July 16, 2026 โ The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) with the participation of the Campus/College International Affairs Coordinators (CIACs) engaged in the online engagement Project PIVOT (Partnerships for International Visibility and Operational Transformation). This is for a collaborative capacity-building and networking activity; as part of its continuing commitment to strengthen internationalization initiatives and promote excellence in higher education.
The program commenced with the Opening Remarks and Project Overview delivered by Ms. Mabel A. Gutierrez, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Chief Education Program Specialist, International Affairs Service, CHED. She underscored the significance of Project PIVOT as a national initiative that supports higher education institutions in establishing meaningful international collaborations, promoting institutional transformation, and expanding opportunities for global engagement. The project aims to equip Philippine HEIs with innovative models and strategic partnerships that will contribute to improving institutional visibility, academic excellence, and operational effectiveness.
One of the highlights of the webinar was the presentation of Ms. Christine Zhou, Deputy Director for International Business and Cooperation of Xinwei AI / Geely Talent Development Group, who introduced Xinwei Education's vision for the future of higher education through the integration of Cyber Campus and Physical Campus. She emphasized that higher education institutions must evolve beyond conventional learning environments by creating intelligent educational ecosystems that seamlessly connect physical learning spaces with digital platforms. This model enables universities to deliver flexible, technology-driven, and globally connected learning experiences that prepare students for the rapidly changing demands of the digital economy.
Ms. Zhou further explained Xinwei Education's framework known as the Three TransX University Model, which serves as a roadmap for transforming higher education through deeper collaboration among academia, industry, and technology. The first component, the Trans-Sectoral Campus, promotes the high-quality integration of industry, business, education, and research. This model encourages universities and industries to collaborate in curriculum development, applied research, innovation, internships, and workforce development, ensuring that graduates possess competencies aligned with global industry requirements. The approach reinforces the concept that higher education should function as an active partner in economic and technological development rather than as an isolated academic institution.
On the other hand, the second component, the Trans-Dimensional Campus, focuses on integrating online and offline learning environments to facilitate efficient industry-education collaboration across multiple learning modalities. By combining digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and flexible instructional delivery, universities can provide students and faculty with expanded opportunities for collaborative learning, research, innovation, and international engagement regardless of geographical limitations. Similarly, the third component, the Trans-Regional Campus, envisions an interconnected educational ecosystem where learners can participate in cross-campus, cross-regional, and global learning experiences. Through strategic international partnerships and digital platforms, universities can broaden student mobility opportunities, joint academic programs, collaborative research initiatives, and international classroom experiences that transcend institutional and national boundaries.
Another key feature presented during the session was Xinwei Education's global footprint, demonstrating its international collaboration in developing globally competent graduates, facilitating knowledge exchange, and fostering innovation through multinational academic and industry partnerships. The presentation highlighted the Philippines as one of Xinwei Education's emerging strategic partners, opening opportunities for future collaboration with Philippine higher education institutions.
For the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, the concepts presented during Project PIVOT strongly resonate with the University's commitment to becoming a globally recognized science and technology university that serves as a vital link between education, industry, and national development.
