The School of Teacher Education Student Body Organization (STE-SBO) hosted its annual Sports Fest on August 15, 2026, at the RNP Covered Court from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Serving as both a tournament and a general assembly, the event gathered STE athletes to review upcoming Intramurals guidelines and competition schedules.

The afternoon featured friendly matches, athletic updates, and the traditional Basketball Muse Competition, where second-year representative Davonne Drazelle Sanglay took top honors. In the Friendly Basketball Competition, the first-year team swept the court, securing dominant victories in both the menโ€™s and womenโ€™s divisions.

To maximize playtime and foster peer camaraderie, organizers streamlined the schedule by replacing the formal closing ceremony with extra games. The energetic afternoon highlighted the departmentโ€™s sportsmanship and strong student turnout as STE prepares for the institution-wide Intramurals.

STE Students and PE Teachers Embrace Inclusion Through Physical Literacy

The School of Teacher Education (STE) successfully conducted a meaningful two-day seminar-workshop on Inclusive Physical Education through Physical Literacy on August 12โ€“13, 2026, at the RNP Covered Court and RNP AVR, RNP Campus, Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City. The seminar-workshop brought together third- and fourth-year BPED and BEED students, along with PE teachers, to strengthen their knowledge and skills in creating inclusive learning environments.

The seminar emphasized that physical education goes beyond fitness and movement skills. Through physical literacy, participants gained a deeper understanding of how to develop learnersโ€™ confidence, motivation, physical competence, knowledge, and understanding while ensuring that physical activities are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability, background, or individual differences.

The resource speaker, Dr. Ricardo R. Bunghanoy IV, Assistant Professor I in the Physical Education Department of Central Mindanao University and Adjunct Professor at the University of the Immaculate Conception, shared his expertise in inclusive and adapted physical education, physical literacy, lifelong physical activity, and teacher preparation. His discussions highlighted the important role of educators in removing barriers and designing learning experiences that recognize and build on every learnerโ€™s strengths and capabilities.

Through interactive discussions and practical activities, participants explored ways to modify games, instructions, equipment, and learning environments to promote meaningful participation. Both future educators and practicing PE teachers gained practical strategies for making physical education more responsive to diverse learners and more accessible to all.

The workshop reinforced that inclusion is more than simply allowing learners to participateโ€”it means intentionally creating opportunities where everyone can learn, contribute, and feel valued. It emphasized the shared responsibility of educators in creating physical education environments where differences are respected and every learner is given meaningful opportunities to participate.

Ultimately, the seminar-workshop equipped participants with knowledge, practical strategies, and a stronger commitment to inclusive physical education. It underscored the importance of creating learning experiences where every learner is welcomed, respected, and encouraged to move, learn, participate, and belong.

Forty-six years may have passed, but the vision of Atty. Rodolfo N. Pelaez remains deeply embedded in the Licean community. His contributions are woven into the very fabric of the university's journey. From its founding years to the generations of Liceans who have walked its halls and carried his dream forward.

As we remember his life and unwavering dedication, we are reminded of the enduring place of education in the Licean journey. His work was never merely about building an institution, it was about building people. It was about creating a space where character is forged, minds are sharpened, and hearts are taught to serve.

Let his legacy continue to live on in every Licean who leads with honor, serves with purpose, and upholds the values he held dear.

In a meaningful show of remembrance, the dedicated faculty of the School of Teacher Education, together with the STE - Student Body Organization, recently visited to pay tribute to the late founder. Their presence was more than a gesture, it was a declaration that his vision endures. It lives not only in the walls he built, but in the educators and future leaders they continue to shape.

The legacy of Atty. Rodolfo N. Pelaez is not a relic of the past. It is a living call of an enduring legacy and the School of Teacher Education answers it with every future educator they mold, every classroom they enter, and every life they inspire.
