On March 31, 2026, West City Central School became a space of collaboration, learning, and appreciation as it hosted the Stakeholdersโ€™ Convergence and Appreciation Day. The event highlighted the importance of unity among educators, parents, and the community in fostering a supportive environment for learners.

In line with this, 3rd Year LDCU Occupational Therapy students proudly presented their Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) project titled โ€œEyes on Literacy: Multisensory Warm-Ups for Reading Readiness.โ€ This evidence-based workshop focused on enhancing childrenโ€™s readiness for reading through engaging multisensory and movement activities, emphasizing the vital role of occupational therapy in education.

The day was filled with meaningful exchanges, shared goals, and a collective commitment to support childrenโ€™s development. It was a celebration not only of achievements but also of partnerships that continue to empower learning communities.

A day of appreciation, collaboration, and purposeโ€”bringing education and rehabilitation together for a brighter future.

Last, January 28, 2026, a Scoliosis Screening was successfully conducted at West City Central School, Cagayan de Oro City, carrying the mission of promoting spinal health and early detection among young students. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of proper posture and maintaining a healthy spine during the crucial years of growth and development.

The activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the students and faculty members of the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, who dedicated their time and expertise in assessing and guiding the learners. Through careful screening and proper guidance, the team was able to help identify possible spinal concerns and provide valuable information on preventive care and posture awareness.

By bringing this service directly to the community, the activity highlights the importance of early screening in detecting scoliosis and other spinal conditions, allowing for timely intervention and management. Beyond assessment, the initiative also served as an opportunity to educate students about simple habits that can help maintain a healthy back as they continue to grow.

Through teamwork, compassion, and commitment to service, this outreach reflects the collegeโ€™s dedication to promoting health, education, and community engagementโ€”one spine at a time.

Being a woman means carrying courage, compassion, and the power to inspire change in the world around us.

In the field of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy, women continue to play an important role in restoring movement, promoting independence, and improving the quality of life of the people they serve. Their dedication, empathy, and commitment to patient care show that healing is not only about treatment, but also about compassion, patience, and strength.

This Womenโ€™s Month, we celebrate the women who continue to lead, serve, and inspireโ€”whether in healthcare, education, leadership, or everyday life. May we continue to uplift one another, break barriers, and empower the next generation of women to dream bigger and reach further.

The College of Rehabilitation Sciences (CRS) proudly took part in the Annual LICEO H.E.L.P.S. (Health, Education, Legal, and Public Service) Program held last March 1, 2026 at the Main Campus of Liceo de Cagayan University, in line with the celebration of the Universityโ€™s 71st Founding Anniversary.

Through this meaningful outreach initiative organized by the Office of Extension and Service Learning (OESL), CRS students and faculty extended their knowledge and skills beyond the classroom by engaging with community beneficiaries and participating in health-related services. The activity served as a valuable opportunity for future rehabilitation professionals to experience the true essence of service โ€” applying compassion, empathy, and professional care in real community settings.

More than just an outreach activity, LICEO H.E.L.P.S. highlights the Universityโ€™s continuous commitment to accessible healthcare, education, and public service. For the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, it is also a reminder that the role of rehabilitation professionals goes beyond restoring movement โ€” it is about empowering individuals, promoting wellness, and improving quality of life within the community.

Through collaboration, dedication, and a shared passion for service, CRS continues to embody the values of compassionate care, leadership, and meaningful community engagement.
