𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗧𝗛: 𝗡𝘄𝗦𝗦𝗨 𝗥𝗜𝗘 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 2𝗻𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗕𝗜𝗗𝗖 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

On June 9, 2026, NwSSU Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, Dr. Teodoro A. Amatosa Jr., attended the 2nd Quarter Samar Bamboo Industry Development Council (SBIDC) Meeting held at the Samar Convention Center, Catbalogan City. The event was successfully convened by the Office of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO).

The assembly brought together council members, stakeholders, and partner agencies to discuss the progress and future directions of the bamboo industry in the Province of Samar. Key agenda items focused on capacity building, enterprise development, and bamboo research, technology, and innovation.

Through the leadership of the Office of RIE, NwSSU remains highly committed to driving sustainable ecological and economic growth in the region through actionable research and extension services.

Newly designated Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, Dr. Teody Amatosa Jr., hit the ground running with back-to-back meetings with the Planning Office and the Office of Research and Development Services. The meetings focused on the upcoming in-person Strategic Futures Workshop, “Futures Thinking Towards Sustainable Development Using the ACACIA Framework,” to be held on 20–21 May 2026.

HANDUM 2050—NwSSU’s Futures Thinking and Strategic Foresight Program—could not be more relevant or timely for the university.

Strategic foresight demands two things: knowing where you stand and envisioning where you are going, and HANDUM 2050 provides both. The program gives the new leadership a structured, evidence-grounded process for engaging stakeholders in long-range planning. It serves as an ideal institutional onboarding tool and a forward-looking compass for the new administration.
