The Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) together with the BS Psychology students and faculty attended the 7th Day Novena in Honor of St. Francis of Assisi, held on the Memorial of St. Thรฉrรจse of the Child Jesus and presided over by Fr. Gregorio Monte, OFM, Vice President for Finance.

The Social Work community of Christ the King College celebrates the model saint on which the advocacy for responsible ecological living radiates throughout the profession. His radical solidarity with the poor directly mirrors the core values of Social Work: service, social justice, and the inherent dignity and worth of every human being.

Today, the CKC Social Work community gathered for the first-ever SWLE 2026 - CKC Graduatesโ€™ Support Lunch, bringing together the graduates of A.Y. 2025 - 2026 before they take the Social Work Licensure Examination this Wednesday.

Made possible through the support of Christ the King College of Calbayog City, the Social Work Program, and its community of students and faculty, the gathering was more than a shared meal. It was a simple expression of support, a reminder that behind every examinee stands a community that hopes, prays, and believes in them.

For a profession built around helping people believe that their stories can move forward, this moment carries its own meaning. The people our graduates will one day serve may not know their names yet, but somewhere ahead, someone will need the social worker they are becoming.

Every milestone brings students closer to the profession they have chosen. On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the 1st Pinning and Vesting Rite for the 4th Year Social Work students was held at the CKC Chapel, marking their transition from academic preparation to field practice.

The gathering began with a Holy Mass, followed by the ceremonial pinning and vesting of the candidates, witnessed by administrators, faculty members, parents, and guardians. Having completed three years of major Social Work subjects, the students are now set to begin their 1,000-hour field internship, where they will bring their academic preparation into actual practice.

As they step into the field, a new phase of learning begins, shaped by experience, encounters, and reflection. The rite marks not the end of learning, but an opportunity to understand Social Work more deeply through practice.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š | Last week, fourth-year Social Work students took part in a two-day Pre-Internship Orientation as part of their preparation for Field Instruction.

More than a deployment requirement, the orientation gave students a space to strengthen their readiness for the field and reflect on the realities of entering professional practice. It also reminded them of the rights, responsibilities, and protections that come with their role as student interns.

As they prepare for their field placement, the orientation offered a meaningful pause to prepare not only for what lies ahead, but also for the realities they may encounter along the way.
