As our footsteps inch further wherever we go, may we let these three terms sink in the deepest of our mind to remind ourselves that today's a special day for we are remembering the Feast of Mary's Immaculate Conception. The Immaculate Conception is known as the conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the womb of her mother, Saint Anne. This feast emphasizes the celebration of the only Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus, who was bestowed to be immune from all stain of original sin from the moment of her conception.
Virgin Mary is the patroness to every town people. Colorful and joyful celebrations in the roads, captivating old music, and flags swaying with images of Virgin Mary. Also, there's no doubt that celebrating the Immaculate Conception mirrors our manner of commemorating "Mother's Day."
Filipinos commonly start the one-day festive on the first Sunday of month December. During this momentum, Manila's walled city is poured with countless images and paintings of Blessed Virgin Mary in the parade. Several portraits of thy majesty from different hands across the nation are being featured and shown out in the parade. Hence, this celebration conceived a name, which is the "Great Marian Parade."
The parade does not only showcases the wonderful obramaestras of the Virgin Mary but also the carriage that's decorated with beautiful colors of both flowers and candles, referred as the "carrozas," which carries and flaunt the portrait of Blessed Virgin Mary.
A popular idea had once circled around, saying that today's event refers to Jesus Christ's conception by Virgin Mary. Unfortunately, it is not. Instead, it directs to the special manner in which the Virgin Mary herself was conceived. This also clears that the conception was not virginal. Therefore, Virgin Mary had a human father as well as human mother.
Alongside with the Feast of Immaculate Conception are the Christmas Day and New Year's Day, which are famous as the three holy days of obligations for Catholics every year.
In addition, let our dear selves be consoled with the immaculate image of Virgin Mary. Also, may this sacred event be a gentle reminder that Christmas is fast approaching. Thus, prepare your pockets for they will be infertile again.
