๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ | The Office of the President of Samar State University issued an advisory yesterday, August 20, 2026, that regular operations will continue across both the Main and Mercedes campuses on Monday, August 24, despite the city's fiesta celebration.
The Office of the University President clarified that Executive Order No. 08-003, s. 2026โissued by the City Mayor of Catbalogan, Hon. Dexter Uyโonly suspends the work of the offices of the City Government. National government agencies and higher education institutions like Samar State University are to follow measures based on their operational needs and agency policies.
Classes will be conducted through a flexible asynchronous learning modality to support students' safety and commute due to the city-wide celebration. Faculty members are to ensure deadlines for academic requirements will not be scheduled on the same day and grant students reasonable extensions past August 24 for submissions.
