The College of IHM proudly spearheaded a meaningful and impactful Community Outreach Program last November 29, 2025 at Municipal Housing, Purok 8, San Fermin, Cauayan Cityโ€”highlighting its commitment to empowering communities through livelihood education and sustainable practices. Led in collaboration with CIHM-SBO and OFRAH, the initiative focused on equipping residents with practical, low-cost skills while strengthening CIHMโ€™s dedication to service, sustainability, and community development.

The first activity, โ€œ๐™๐™ง๐™ค๐™ข ๐™†๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™˜๐™๐™š๐™ฃ ๐™Ž๐™˜๐™ง๐™–๐™ฅ๐™จ ๐™ฉ๐™ค ๐™„๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข๐™š: ๐™๐™ก๐™–๐™ซ๐™ค๐™ง๐™š๐™™ ๐™‘๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™š๐™œ๐™–๐™ง ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ,โ€ provided participants with hands-on learning in food processing and preservation using fruit scraps to promote sustainable kitchen practices. Sir Alvin Santiago facilitated the demonstration, supported by OFRAH officers, teaching beneficiaries how to create natural flavored vinegars using simple household ingredients and reuse sanitized bottles for packaging. This activity aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing practical learning, and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through waste reduction and sustainable resource use.

Meanwhile, the second activity, โ€œ๐™‚๐™ง๐™š๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐˜พ๐™ค๐™ข๐™ข๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™š๐™จ: ๐˜พ๐™„๐™ƒ๐™ˆ ๐˜พ๐™ค๐™ข๐™ข๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ฎ ๐™‚๐™–๐™ง๐™™๐™š๐™ฃ ๐™‹๐™ง๐™ค๐™Ÿ๐™š๐™˜๐™ฉ,โ€ centered on establishing a small community garden to promote environmental awareness and food sustainability. CIHM-SBO officers worked collaboratively with residents under the guidance of Maโ€™am Magel Rempillo, who supervised the third-year BS Tourism Management volunteers during the garden setup. This project supports SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by encouraging local food production and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by fostering greener, community-driven spaces.

Through these two educational and engaging activities, the outreach program successfully strengthened community engagement, promoted sustainable living, and provided participants with valuable skills for livelihood and daily life.

The most heartfelt part of the event was the pinning ceremony. As each student walked forward to receive their nameplate and pineapple pin, the room was filled with pride and happiness. These pins are not just an accessory; they symbolize the responsibility and commitment the students carry as future professionals.
It was then followed by the Recitation of the Oath of Pledge of Commitment, led by the BSTM alumna Ms. Janine Zez Lampitoc, encouraging students to promise excellence and professionalism in their journeys ahead.

The College of International Hospitality Management (CIHM) once again showcased excellence, creativity, and the spirit of Filipino hospitality through its CIHM Restaurant Simulation: PERPS Dining Experience, carrying the theme โ€œDining the Filipino Way: Redefining Filipino Dining Through Innovation and Hospitality.โ€ This event brought together students, faculty, administrators, and guests to celebrate the richness of Filipino cuisine while highlighting the learnersโ€™ mastery of world-class service and hospitality standards.

The event opened with the registration of participants and guests, where the warm and welcoming approach of the student-organizers reflected the true heart of Filipino hospitalityโ€”maalaga, magalang, at may malasakit.

The formal program began with a solemn prayer, followed by the heartfelt singing of the National Anthem and the uplifting Perpetual Hymn, uniting everyone in purpose, pride, and gratitude.

Attendees were officially welcomed by Dean Jessel Joy R. Sangdaan, CGSP, MBA, whose insightful Opening Remarks emphasized CIHMโ€™s ongoing commitment to producing hospitality professionals who exemplify both technical competence and genuine Filipino warmth.

This was followed by an inspiring message from School Director Warren L. Calilung, Ed.D., Ph.D., who underscored the significance of innovation in redefining Filipino dining. He reminded the audience that tradition gives Filipino cuisine its roots, but innovation gives it the wings to thrive in a modern and global setting.

The Event Objectives highlighted the simulationโ€™s purpose: to immerse students in real-world culinary and service operations, to celebrate the diverse flavors of Filipino cuisine, and to elevate hospitality practices through creativity and reinvention. A dynamic Opening Salvo energized the audience and signaled the start of an enriching experience.

One of the most anticipated segments was the Menu Proper Overview, where students proudly presented the curated Filipino dishes they prepared for the simulation. Each dish showcased a harmonious fusion of tradition and modernity, demonstrating the studentsโ€™ understanding of local ingredients, regional food culture, and contemporary culinary techniques.

To honor and appreciate the mentors who guide the students toward excellence, an Awarding Ceremony for CIHM Faculty was heldโ€”a heartfelt tribute to their dedication and influence in shaping the future of the hospitality industry.

Before closing the event, Event Chair Buena Brigitte G. Beltran, MSHM, delivered the Closing Remarks, commending the students for their discipline, creativity, and professionalism. She emphasized that hospitality is more than a skillโ€”it is a heartfelt expression of Filipino identity and service culture.

A touching Same Day Edit montage, skillfully created by Ms. Jamaica Agudon from BSHM-3, showcased the eventโ€™s highlightsโ€”from the meticulous kitchen preparations to the warm dining interactionsโ€”beautifully capturing the teamwork, passion, and dedication of everyone involved. This was followed by the meaningful Bow Tribute & Community Dance, symbolizing unity, gratitude, and celebration.

The PERPS Dining Experience was more than just a simulationโ€”it was a powerful showcase of Filipino dining at its finest: warm, flavorful, innovative, and deeply rooted in hospitality. Through this event, CIHM reaffirmed its mission to elevate Filipino cuisine and service on the global stage while honoring the traditions that make it uniquely ours.

In line with modern hospitality standards, the students also proudly incorporated sustainability practices throughout the culminating activityโ€”maximizing resources, reducing waste, and integrating eco-friendly methods in both kitchen and service operations. Their efforts demonstrated a commitment to creating a dining experience that is not only exceptional but also responsible, ethical, and future-focused.
