The path to this stage was not always easy. Behind the smiles in these photos were long nights, heavy books, and quiet moments of doubt where the finish line felt far away. Yet, through every uncertainty and every hardship, the choice was made to keep going—to persist when things felt difficult and to believe in the purpose behind the struggle.

There is an admirable beauty in seeing the strength that has grown from those challenging days. This journey was never just about studying history; it was about the slow, steady building of a heart that truly understands the world, and a mind that dares to care for it. Every lesson learned and every trial faced has prepared Batch 2026 to step into the world not just as graduates, but as people who carry a genuine light for others.

More than upholding a culture of excellence, may this milestone also serve as a reminder of the responsibility that comes with being iskolar ng bayan. The gift of education is one that is deeply rooted in the trust and sacrifices of the Filipino people, and through this, may Batch 2026 continue to embody service that is grounded not only in passion, but also in critical thinking, analytical rigor, justice, compassion, and integrity. ‎
‎Never has history witnessed such rapid growth and development as we have experienced today. Innovations are spurring faster than the time it takes to blink our eyes: cars and gadgets are now accessible, places are inundated with cellular networks and wireless fidelity, and people can now consult with the same minds provided on their phones. However, since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the same plight of workers remains: 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. Indeed, the same history that treats progress like a monument deserving of reverence, is the same history that maltreats morality and sweeps it under the rug.

𝐎𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐲, may we remember that resistance is not new, it lives and breathes through generations. Like the babaylans who were silenced yet never erased, the spirit of the people continues to rise in fields and factories, in every space where labor persists. Though they were cast down a thousand times, they rise just the same, voices stronger, hands unbound, and resolve unbroken. The struggle of the past is not buried; it is carried forward, kinikitil ang sumpa ng nakaraan. In every worker who endures, and in every voice that dares to demand more, 𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐠𝐚 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐚𝐧.

There were days in university life when all we could hold on to was the quiet promise: “𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞, 𝐈’𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 𝐲𝐞𝐭.” Days filled with exhaustion, uncertainty, and the kind of silence that only those who have struggled deeply can understand. And yet, despite everything, you stayed. You endured. You chose to keep going.

Today, that courage is reflected in this moment. Not simply in medals or titles, but in every sacrifice made, every sleepless night survived, and every time you chose to continue even when the road felt impossible. This Earth Day invites us to reflect, not only on the state of our environment, but on the kind of responsibility we choose to carry within it. To care for the Earth is not a solitary act. It is a shared commitment, shaped quietly by the decisions we make each day and the values we choose to uphold.

There are moments when these acts appear small. A switch turned off. A plant watered. A resource conserved. Yet within these gestures lies an awareness that what we have is finite, and that its loss is not felt equally. Environmental decline often reaches the most vulnerable first, reminding us that sustainability is not only an environmental concern, but a social one.

Seen through the lens of sustainable development, these choices become part of something larger, an ongoing effort toward responsible consumption, climate action, and the protection of life on land. These are not distant ideals, but realities we encounter and shape through both personal discipline and collective action.
