๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐ | Pioneering Drone Technology for Land Surveys in the Visayas
Back on December 20, 2018 , a milestone partnership was initiated to modernize land administration and management in the Philippines. The Foundation for Economic Freedom (FEF) reached out to the University of Southern Philippines College of Engineering and Architecture (USP-CEA) in Cebu City to establish a formal partnership on advancing the conduct of land surveys using drones.
Following a successful pilot of drone land surveys in Agusan del Sur alongside the Land Management Bureau and other partners , FEF recognized a critical need to expand training on drone surveying for Geodetic Engineering (GE) students, faculty members, and both public and private GEs. USP-CEA was selected to be the partner institution in the Visayas to pilot and improve a Standard Training Module (STM) developed by the UP Department of Geodetic Engineering (UP-DGE).
Under this historic collaboration, USP-CEA's tasks included:
โขProviding inputs in the development of the training course on the use of drones for surveying.
โขHosting a training course for other schools and institutions working with GEs or surveying students.
โขEstablishing a test bed site within the campus or in a nearby area for the calibration of drones.
โขUsing the STM to train other GE students, faculty members, and regional GEs.
This foundational agreement paved the way for high-tech surveying education and impactful real-world property titling initiatives. By May 2019, these plans leaped from paper to practice. Look back at the success of this "Technology for Property Rights" initiative through these historic milestones captured during the May 2019 events:
