Research results of two studies participated in by faculty members from the USC Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and History will be presented during the 10th University Research Conference at the Michael Richartz Center at the USC Talamban campus on April 23-24, 2026.

The first study funded by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. On this Araw ng Kagitingan, we honor the courage and sacrifice of women and men who came before us—whose bravery shaped the course of our history and whose stories continue to echo in our communities today.

The USC Department of Anthropology, Sociology and History affirms that valor is not confined to the past. It lives on—in our traditions, in our struggles for justice and dignity, and in the everyday acts of resistance that define our shared humanity.

May we rise to carry their legacy forward—with courage, with purpose, and with an unwavering commitment.

The Carolinian Sociological Anthropological Society is having a Donation Drive to raise funds for the repair of the 'pantan' in the Sama-Bajau community in Mambaling. This serves as the main entance to their community and is utilized for important activities such as marriage rituals. The USC Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and History initiated its repair in 2014 based on a Community Needs Assessment with Sama-Bajau elders. However, 12 years after, the 'pantan' has become dilapidated, and some portions are already in a state of deterioration. This is why we are knocking on your generosity to help the community repair their 'pantan' or community assembly area. Any amount will do. Thank you!

Today, on International Women’s Day, USC Department of Anthropology, Sociology and History honors the strength, knowledge, and resilience of women across the Philippines and around the world.

From indigenous community leaders and culture bearers to scholars, workers, and advocates, Filipina women continue to shape societies, safeguard traditions, and challenge inequalities. Anthropology reminds us that women’s voices, experiences, and leadership are vital to understanding cultures, histories, and futures.

Let us continue to document, support, and uplift the diverse stories of women—past and present—whose contributions sustain communities and inspire change. Mabuhi ang kababayen-an!
