🌊🌱 United for a Cleaner, Greener Future! πŸ’šβœ¨

The University of the Visayas Biological Society proudly joined the Coastal Clean-Up Drive at Kinalumsan River today, in cooperation of the 2026 International Coastal Clean-Up, initiated and led nationwide by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). 🌏

As Biology students, we believe that protecting nature starts with taking action. Through this initiative, we turned our commitment to environmental conservation into meaningful steps toward a sustainable future. 🌿

Every collected piece of waste represents a shared responsibility to care for our planet. Together, we can make a differenceβ€”one cleanup, one community, and one action at a time! πŸ’š

🌊 SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation: Keeping our waterways clean and safe.

🐠 SDG 14 – Life Below Water: Reducing waste that threatens aquatic life.

🌳 SDG 15 – Life on Land: Protecting ecosystems and promoting biodiversity.

🀝 SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Working together to create lasting environmental impact.

β€œBe part of the solution, not the pollution!” 🌊✨

🧬🌿 UNITED BY PURPOSE, DRIVEN BY DETERMINATION! 🌿🧬
The UV Biological Society (UVBS) successfully conducted its General Meeting on September 11, 2026, at Room 230-A, University of the Visayas. The meeting served as an avenue for Biology students to come together, discuss important matters, and prepare for the activities ahead. πŸ’š
During the meeting, we discussed the upcoming events and schedule calendar of the Biology Department, ensuring that students are informed and prepared for the activities that await us. We also tackled the different positions that students may run for in CABS and the CAS Department, encouraging everyone to take part, step forward, and contribute to the student community.
With the guidance and support of our UVBS Adviser, Sir Rommeljun Datiles, together with our UVBS President, Granz Filbette Cabajez, and the rest of the dedicated UVBS officers, the General Meeting concluded successfullyβ€”with true compassion, unity, and determination. πŸ€πŸ’š
May this meeting be another step toward a more active, united, and empowered Biology community. Together, let us continue to learn, lead, serve, and grow as Ka-Bios! 🌱🧬

The 2nd-year Medical Biology students of the University of the Visayas took their learning beyond the classroom with their course instructor, Mr. Rommeljun Datiles, through a meaningful fieldwork experience at Tabyog Mangrove Park on September 5, 2026.
Through direct observation and exploration, students gained a deeper understanding of the mangrove ecosystem, its biodiversity, ecological interactions, and importance in maintaining healthy coastal environments. The activity provided an opportunity to connect biological concepts with real-world observations while appreciating the vital role mangroves play in protecting coastlines and supporting diverse forms of life.
This fieldwork reminds us that biology is not only studied in books and laboratoriesβ€”it is also found in the ecosystems around us.πŸŒ±πŸ”¬
