𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 (𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀), 𝗜𝗻𝗰. 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 ₱𝟳𝟲𝟴.𝟰 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗼 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗲

OceanaGold (Philippines), Inc. has allocated ₱768.43 million for the Final Mine Rehabilitation and Decommissioning Plan (FMRDP) of the Didipio Mine in Nueva Vizcaya. A total of ₱551.4 million has already been deposited into a trust fund as of 2026. More than 55 hectares of the mine’s operating area had already been rehabilitated as of last year, while another 100 hectares are set for progressive rehabilitation.

At mine closure, about 221 hectares will undergo final rehabilitation, while another 58 hectares, including the open pit and parts of the mine camp, may be used for post-mining community use such as agriculture, forestry, a freshwater lake, and tourism. The company’s rehabilitation plan is scheduled for another review by the third quarter of 2026.

From welcoming our freshmen to showcasing the creativity of our students through our department booth, the first day was filled with moments that set the tone for an exciting year ahead!

And, of course, our Mining Engineering students representing PSEM - Visayas Student Chapter brought their talent, passion, and team spirit to the stage during the Organization Introduction and Cheering Competition! Their enthusiasm reminded us that being a Mining Engineer is not only about technical excellence—it is also about leadership, teamwork, creativity, and community.

⛏️ 𝐏𝐒𝐄𝐌-𝐕𝐒𝐂 𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐍𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒’ 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒 2026 ✨

The 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 2026, held from 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 29-31 at the 𝗖𝗜𝗧-𝗨 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗖𝗼𝗺 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿, brought together student leaders across the university for three days of engaging discussions, collaborative workshops, and leadership development activities. Guided by the theme, “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱: 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦-𝘋𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯,” the congress encouraged participants to explore new perspectives on leadership and organizational growth.

Representing the PSEM-VSC were 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗵𝘆𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗹𝗼, Secretary, and 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗝𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗻, Treasurer, who actively participated in the congress alongside fellow student leaders. Through this experience, they gained valuable insights and exchanged ideas that contribute to strengthening the organization’s future initiatives and member engagement.

As the congress concludes, the organization carries these learnings forward, breaking new ground through purposeful initiatives and meaningful service. 💛
