Our Department Coordinator, Engr. Felix Timbal, represented the CIT-U Mining Engineering Department at the PRC Region VII Career Guidance Forum, where he delivered a presentation on Mining Engineering for Senior High School OJT students. ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™‚๏ธโ›๏ธ

The countryโ€™s metallic-mineral production value rose to โ‚ฑ219.742 billion from January to September 2025 โ€” up 14.8% from the same period last year โ€” driven by surging gold revenues, steady nickel prices, and a sharp rebound in iron-ore output.
Gold remained the top contributor, hitting โ‚ฑ117.421 billion (+28.9%) despite a 5.3% drop in volume, while nickel (direct-shipping ore) supplied the second-biggest value share at โ‚ฑ52.482 billion thanks to firmer prices.

Other notable shifts: iron-ore value more than doubled after a 109.5% surge in output, while mixed nickel-cobalt sulfide saw volume growth but value decline; silver and copper production values also showed mixed results.

These figures come from preliminary data by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) for the first three quarters of 2025.
