“The Filipino is worth dying for.” 🎗

Former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. was honored for his unconditional love for the Philippines and its countrymen through Republic Act No. 9256, declaring August 21 as “Ninoy Aquino Day” and a non-working holiday.

In 1983 on the same day, Aquino returned to the Philippines after he underwent a heart surgery in the United States. Even though he was fully aware of the risks, he came home and was ultimately gunned down at Manila International Airport (now Ninoy Aquino International Airport).

Today, Aquino is remembered and a reminder to lead with a purpose, stand injustice, ask for accountability for the country and people. It is also to demonstrate patriotism, a core value of a Nationalian.

CEBU CITY, Philippines—Second-year BS Psychology students at NU Cebu gather today, August 19, for their General Orientation, held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the 11th Floor Multipurpose Hall, as they prepare for the academic year ahead.

The orientation focuses on matters relevant to the students’ progression into their second year, including academic expectations, university policies, program-related concerns, and other essential updates.

University representatives and faculty members discuss important guidelines to help students navigate the responsibilities and requirements of their continuing academic journey.

The activity also gives students an opportunity to clarify concerns and gain a better understanding of the expectations associated with the BS Psychology program.

The orientation aims to ensure that students enter the new academic year informed, prepared, and equipped to meet the demands of their succeeding year in the program.
