The University of Cebu Main Mechanical Engineering Department continued its Mechanical Engineering Orientation for School Year 2026–2027 through the Afternoon Session, welcoming third-, fourth-, and fifth-year Mechanical Engineering students. The session aimed to strengthen students’ awareness of academic expectations, university policies, professional responsibilities, and the opportunities available as they continue their journey toward becoming future mechanical engineers.

The program commenced with a prayer, followed by the Philippine National Anthem and the University of Cebu Hymn. Dr. Greg R. Belongilot, Dean of the College of Engineering, shared his message of encouragement, emphasizing the importance of discipline, perseverance, and continuous pursuit of excellence. Dr. Rodel T. Naval, Chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Department, highlighted the department’s outstanding board examination achievements from 2004 to the present, motivating students to uphold the legacy of excellence and strive for greater accomplishments in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

The orientation also focused on student welfare, academic development, and leadership engagement. Engr. Orlene Balungcas discussed safety awareness and emergency preparedness, while representatives from the Student Affairs Office (SAO) and Guidance Office presented essential information regarding university policies, student responsibilities, campus services, and support systems available to students. Engr. Carol Jane Bernabe discussed the grading system and academic requirements, while Engr. John Roland Arcallana explained important policies concerning subject withdrawal, tuition discounts, and other university regulations. Representatives from the University of Cebu College Parliament (UCCP) also encouraged students to actively participate in leadership and campus governance.

The session concluded with an inspiring message from Engr. Julieto Negapatan, encouraging students to remain dedicated, embrace challenges, and continue pursuing excellence throughout their Mechanical Engineering journey. The successful Afternoon Session served as a meaningful reminder of the commitment, passion, and responsibility expected from every future mechanical engineer as they continue building the legacy of UC Main Mechanical Engineering.

The University of Cebu Main Mechanical Engineering Department officially welcomed its first- and second-year students through the Morning Session of the Mechanical Engineering Orientation for School Year 2026–2027. The event served as a platform to introduce students to the department’s culture, academic expectations, university policies, and the various support systems available throughout their college journey.

The program commenced with a prayer, followed by the Philippine National Anthem and the University of Cebu Hymn. Dr. Greg R. On August 4, 2026, the newly elected officers of the 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 (𝐉𝐏𝐒𝐌𝐄) for 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕 formally paid a courtesy call to the 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐃𝐫. The meeting served as an avenue for the officers to introduce themselves, present their plans for the organization, and seek the Dean's guidance and support for the academic year ahead. Among the key matters discussed were the organization's proposed calendar of activities, the establishment of a fixed annual schedule of programs, and initiatives aimed at increasing student participation, particularly by cultivating greater interest in the Mechanical Engineering Quiz Bowl through engaging academic activities and competitive preparations.

With a shared vision of excellence, the officers, the Dean, and the organization's adviser emphasized the importance of creating meaningful programs that inspire leadership, academic growth, and camaraderie among Mechanical Engineering students. More than organizing successful events, the goal is to build traditions, strengthen the identity of JPSME, and leave behind a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations of Batang Mekanikal.

This courtesy call marks the beginning of a year driven by purpose, innovation, and a commitment to creating an impact that will be remembered long after the term ends. ⚙️💙
