In line with the 2026 Labor Day theme, “𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘩𝘰 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘓𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘵: 𝘐𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯, 𝘉𝘢𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘴 𝘚𝘢𝘮𝘢-𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨,” COSPED underscores the urgent call for inclusive and equitable workplaces that recognize the dignity and contribution of every Filipino worker.

Decent work must go beyond access to employment it must strengthen inclusive systems where individuals of all abilities are given equal opportunities to participate, grow, and succeed. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘄𝗮 𝗸𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗴𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘄𝗮, 𝗸𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗮 𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘆, 𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗼, 𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘁.

In a world that often overlooks differences, COSPED steps forward to nurture them—joining KalFlowers, a creative and entrepreneurial initiative that 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗟𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗦 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗦𝗛𝗝𝗠 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗗 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 through hands-on flower-making and real-world learning experiences. 💐

More than crafting fuzzy wire bouquets, this project builds confidence, creativity, and capability, transforming simple materials into symbols of potential, and small steps into meaningful growth. 𝗜𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 – 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, KalFlowers becomes a space where inclusion is not just taught, but lived.

LOOK | College of Special Needs holds research confab; CNU prexy calls for investing in ‘vulnerable’

“When we invest in our most vulnerable populations, we strengthen the future of everyone.”

University President Dr. Laurence Garcia underscored this message as he opened the first research conference of the College of Special Needs, Early Childhood Education and Lifelong Learning (CSNECELL), held via Zoom this morning.

As an academic institution committed to recovery, Garcia emphasized the importance of inclusivity, noting that “inclusion is the foundation of a just and humane society.”

He also highlighted the need for early intervention for learners with special needs, stressing that “the foundation begins in the early years of life, where every child, regardless of ability or circumstance, deserves to be seen and supported.”

Amid ongoing global challenges, Garcia underscored the value of community and called for practices that reach those at the margins and most at risk.

“As a university committed to recovery in the midst of global challenges, we recognize that true recovery is not measured solely by systems or targets achieved, but by how deeply we care for those who are most at risk of being left behind,” he said.

For her part, CSNECELL Dean Dr. Tizza Marie Navarro said the college’s first research conference responds to the “growing complexity of educational landscapes,” particularly in special needs and early childhood education, highlighting the need for more inclusive, responsive, and evidence-based approaches.

As societies strive to uphold equity and inclusion, she emphasized that fostering a strong research culture among educators and future professionals is essential in shaping transformative and inclusive educational practices.

With nearly 300 participants, including scholars, educators, and student researchers, the conference aims to showcase innovative strategies, inclusive pedagogies, and context-responsive interventions that promote equitable access to quality education for all learners.

Titled “Building an Inclusive Tomorrow: Research and Innovation in SNED and ECE,” the conference’s first day features discussions on the latest trends in special needs education and early childhood development, alongside research presentations on inclusive practices and evidence-based interventions.
