Mr. Cris Dela Peña, faculty member of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism, participated in the 𝟏𝟑𝐭𝐡 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲 held on June 14–16, 2026, in Malolos, Bulacan. The three-day national gathering brought together professional tour guides, tourism stakeholders, and industry leaders from across the country to discuss current trends, strengthen professional competencies, and promote collaboration within the tour guiding sector.

This year's convention, with the theme "𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧," featured plenary sessions, educational discussions, cultural immersion activities, the General Assembly, and the election of new officers of the Philippine Federation of Professional Tour Guides Associations (TGFed).

During the federation's General Assembly, Mr. Dela Peña was elected as 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞-𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐬 for the new term. Prior to his election, he served as TGFed Secretary for the past two years, contributing to the organization's initiatives in advancing the tour guiding profession in the Philippines.

His participation and election further strengthen the department's commitment to academic excellence, industry engagement, and the continuous professional development of tourism educators and practitioners.

MICE Tourism Summit 2026 | Cebu Business Month

Our faculty members (Jessalyn Pastorfide, Nelson Collamar, Ava Mela Remonde, and Jannalou Resos) had the opportunity to attend the MICE Tourism Summit 2026 held last June 25 in Mactan as part of Cebu Business Month 2026.

The summit gathered tourism leaders, government representatives, industry stakeholders, and the academe to discuss Cebu's continued growth as a premier destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE). The summit highlighted the importance of strengthening public-private partnerships, enhancing Cebu's tourism and event infrastructure, and attracting more high-value business events that create lasting economic opportunities for local communities.

As the MICE industry continues to grow, Cebu remains committed to delivering world-class experiences and reinforcing its position as one of the Philippines' leading business events destinations.

Together, we move forward in shaping a more competitive, sustainable, and globally connected tourism industry.
