DHT Faculty Strengthen MICE Expertise Through Professional Training
The faculty of the USC - Department of Hospitality and Tourism participated in the MICE 101 and MICE 102 Training, a three-day professional development program held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino.
Conducted by the Philippine MICE Academy, the training aimed to equip tourism and industry professionals with practical knowledge, current industry insights, and relevant competencies in Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE)and other business events.
The program provided participants with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the MICE industry, explore emerging trends, and gain perspectives that can help strengthen the delivery of business events in Cebu and beyond.
The training was organized by the Department of Tourism Central Visayas, in partnership with the Cebu MICE Alliance and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The initiative reflects the growing importance of collaboration among government, industry, and academe in preparing the tourism workforce for the expanding MICE sector.
Representing the Department of Hospitality and Tourism were: Dr. Nelson Collamar, Dr. Jannalou Resos, Ms. Ava Mella Zapanta, Mr. Rualdo Radomes, and Mr. Cris Edren Dela Peรฑa.
For the Department, participation in industry-focused training is more than professional development. It is an opportunity to ensure that classroom learning remains connected to current industry practices and developments. By continuously updating their knowledge and strengthening their industry networks, faculty members are better positioned to prepare students for the demands and opportunities of the hospitality and tourism sector.
