The University of Cebu School of Law celebrates Labor Day!

Today, we pay tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of hardworking individuals—here and across the globe—whose labor strengthens families, uplifts communities, and fuels national development.

As stated in Article 13, Section 3 of the Philippine Constitution:
“The State shall afford full protection to labor, local and overseas, organized and unorganized, and promote full employment and equality of employment opportunities for all.”

At UC Law, we stand in solidarity with all workers and reaffirm our commitment to promoting the dignity of labor, protecting workers’ rights, and advancing social justice through ethical leadership and legal education. Together, let us continue fostering a society that values, safeguards, and empowers every member of the workforce.

Happy Labor Day!

The University of Cebu School of Law extends its warm birthday greetings to one of its youngest, most creative, efficient, and passionate professors, Atty. Nichol Jon Burt A. Ruaya!

Many people believe that law school can limit one’s creativity, shifting it away from artistic passions and toward legal practice alone. But for Atty. Nic, law school became a space where his creativity continued to grow and evolve, shaping him into the skilled lawyer and dedicated educator he is today.

Atty. Nic’s thoughtful and detailed feedback on his students’ exams, which he personally sends through email, reflects his genuine passion for teaching and his commitment to helping his students improve. Calm and composed in class, he guides students patiently through difficult recitations and ensures they understand their lessons well. His efficiency is remarkable, covering numerous cases in a single session while maintaining clarity and structure. His well-organized Labor syllabus serves as a reliable guide for his students, and his approachable, charming, and understanding nature makes him someone they truly respect. He is also open to feedback and humble enough to acknowledge and correct his mistakes.

On this special day, we wish Atty. Nic the happiest birthday. Admired by many, he is a true symbol of UC Law excellence—ethical, dedicated, and inspiring. He is not only a role model to his students but also an outstanding example within the legal community. Through his passion and commitment, Atty. Nic reminds us that we can always strive to be better and do more.

May you continue to be blessed and reach even greater heights, Atty. Nic! Happy Birthday!

The University of Cebu School of Law successfully concluded its three-day Mock Bar Examinations (MBE), conducted on April 12, 15, and 19, 2026, marking a significant step in preparing its future Bar examinees.

Fourth-year and refresher students undertook a rigorous simulation designed to mirror the actual Bar examination experience, with questions crafted by seasoned legal practitioners, respected authors, and distinguished law school deans from across the country.

The activity culminated in a meaningful Salubong and debriefing session led by Dean Ria Lidia G. Espina, together with UC School of Law Secretary, Atty. Emi Rose Remoroza-Parcon. In her message, the Dean affirmed: “Through every trial and every study, UC Law stands steadfast and ready.”

More than an academic exercise, the MBE strengthened the students’ discipline, resilience, and confidence as they move closer to the Bar. UC Law remains committed to honing future lawyers who embody excellence, integrity, and service.

Padayon, future lawyers—your hard work today builds the foundation for tomorrow’s victories.

The University of Cebu School of Law extends its warm birthday wishes to one of its esteemed professors, Atty. Rose Liza Eisma-Osorio!

Atty. Os, your impact in UC Law goes far beyond the classroom. You are a guiding light—quiet yet powerful, humble yet deeply influential. With your unwavering dedication to environmental advocacy, and in being a lawyer for dolphins and marine mammals, you remind us that the law is not only a profession, but a powerful tool to protect what truly matters.

In every space you occupy, whether academic, legal, or community-based, you stand firm in your principles, speaking with clarity and purpose for the environment, for the people, and for justice. Your work continues to shape not just minds, but hearts committed to meaningful change.

As a pillar of the UC Law Mooting Society, you have nurtured mooters with both discipline and compassion. You instill in them the value of preparation, integrity, and thoughtful advocacy and proving that strength in law lies in substance and sincerity.

Your leadership is felt in the lives you have touched and the futures you have helped build. Without seeking the spotlight, you continue to make a lasting difference, not just in the UC Law community, but in our society.

Thank you, Atty. Os, for your dedication, your wisdom, and your quiet strength. We celebrate you today and always. Happy birthday!

The University of Cebu School of Law proudly congratulates its Dean, Atty. Ria Lidia G. Espina, on her election to the International Association of Law Schools (IALS) Board of Governors as a representative of the Asia-Pacific Region.

Her three-year term (2026-2029) marks a significant milestone not only for UC School of Law but also for Philippine legal education on the global stage.

IALS is a distinguished private, non-political, non-profit, and collaborative learned society dedicated to advancing legal education worldwide. With a network of more than 250 law schools and departments across over 60 countries, representing more than 12,000 law faculty members, the IALS works toward the shared mission of improving legal education across jurisdictions.

Founded from the collective vision of legal educators who recognized the growing interrelationship of transnational legal systems, the IALS was formally incorporated in October 2005 in the District of Columbia, USA. Since transitioning in 2014 to an independent Board of Governors, it has led efforts in shaping global principles, guidelines, and outcomes for legal education.
Dean Ria’s election affirms her leadership, knowledge, and steadfast commitment to academic excellence, global competence, and social responsiveness. Her representation in the IALS strengthens the voice of the Asia-Pacific region and advances UC School of Law’s mission of contributing meaningfully to the development of legal education worldwide.

We are immensely proud of you, Dean Ria. Congratulations!
