It was a time when people were tossed to the lions if they questioned or opposed those who had seized power through force and treachery.

Today, as we commemorate this day in the Philippines' history, let us remember those who fought and sacrificed their lives so that we could continue to enjoy freedom. It is indeed an inspiration for every patriotic Filipino; what is devotion to our country without the courage and willingness to do whatever it takes to defend and protect our nation, even at the expense of our lives?

Let us honor those who bravely stood up against tyranny by making sure that their sacrifices were not in vain. Let us dedicate this day of silence and reflection by working hard to build a nation that is truly resilient and unbreakable, one that no tyrant can ever dismantle.
