‼️The Story of Maria Cacao-reposted‼️
Long ago, in the mountains of Cebu, people told stories about a beautiful and mysterious woman named Maria Cacao.
Maria Cacao was said to be the guardian of a vast cacao plantation. She lived in a magnificent golden house hidden deep inside the mountain. Her home was filled with treasures, beautiful plants, and baskets of fragrant cacao beans.
According to the legend, Maria Cacao traveled through the rivers in a magical golden boat. On quiet nights, some people claimed they could see her boat floating along the river, carrying sacks of cacao and other treasures.
Maria Cacao was not known to be cruel. Instead, she was said to be generous to people who respected the forest and treated nature kindly. Farmers who cared for their crops and never destroyed the trees were sometimes believed to receive blessings from her.
But those who entered the forest only to take what they wanted without respect were warned to be careful. Maria Cacao was believed to protect the mountain, the cacao trees, and the creatures living there.
One day, a group of villagers followed the river deep into the forest. They discovered a beautiful cacao plantation and saw Maria Cacao's magical boat. Amazed by the sight, they wanted to take some of her treasures.
Suddenly, the river became dark and the wind began to blow. The villagers realized that they had entered a sacred place. Frightened, they quickly left everything behind and returned home.
From that day on, the villagers remembered the lesson of Maria Cacao: nature is a gift, and those who respect it will be blessed, while those who abuse it may lose what they have.
Even today, the legend of Maria Cacao continues to live in Filipino folklore—a mysterious story of magic, nature, generosity, and respect for the land.
