In a major advancement for Philippine engineering education, the University of San Carlos School of Engineering has received Tier 1 accreditation from the PTC-ACBET Engineering Accreditation Commission.

The distinction—awarded during an official ceremony at Rigney Hall on the USC Talamban Campus—covers seven major disciplines: Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering.

The official turnover took place at Rigney Hall, USC Talamban Campus, during the PTC-ACBET comprehensive review visit.

Achieving Tier 1 status recognizes USC’s academic rigor and its concrete contribution to regional development and global academic partnerships.

Dr. Rosana J. Ferolin, dean of the School of Engineering, led the ceremony alongside the University Cabinet and the entire SOE faculty and staff.

Congratulations to the entire USC School of Engineering and the Carolinian community on this distinction!

Graduate researchers and faculty from the USC School of Education (USC-SEd) represented the institution at the DOST-SEI and NCGSME-CBPSME national conference held in Iloilo City, showcasing research aimed at reshaping modern science education.

Leading the delegation, researcher Ms. Bryani Jillian Otordoz, whose study—“Effects of a Lesson Sequence Incorporating Molecular Storytelling Case Studies on Students' Understanding and Attitude towards Cytology and Modern Biology”—earned top honors at the event.

The milestone reflects the academic guidance of Dr. Rolando V. Obiedo, Dean of the USC School of Education and Project Director of the USC-CBPSME consortium. Fellow USC scholars Ms. Rechellu Zamboangnon (Master's Candidate) and Mr. Dennis Pollinar (PhD Candidate) were also commended for their contributions to advancing pedagogical research.

May your work continue to glorify God through the advancement of knowledge.

The University of San Carlos celebrates IDr. Adrian P. Del Monte, Dean of the School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Design (USC-SAFAD), for being named the Interior Design Honoree (Professional Category) at the prestigious 2026 Haligi ng Dangal Awards!

Conferred by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), this national distinction honors Dean Adrian's visionary work on the Isla Cabana Resort in Siargao Island. By masterfully reinterpreting the traditional Bahay Kubo through the seamless integration of indigenous thatch, natural slate, and reclaimed magkuno (ironwood), Dean Adrian proved that Filipino native design belongs on the global luxury stage.

This marks the second consecutive Haligi ng Dangal cycle in which USC-SAFAD faculty have captured top national design honors—following IDr. Sheryl Germino-Marinas’ award in 2024.

Congratulations, Dean Adrian!

The University of San Carlos celebrates the achievements of its student filmmakers, who earned three major honors at the Sine Kabataan 2026 Film Festival.

Elj Seth Tababa received the award for Best Director, while Ethan David Gipano was awarded Best Cinematography. Their film, Bato’ng Bunga, received the festival’s highest honor, winning Best Short Film.

We give our special recognition to the film producer and USC Cinema alumnus Jon Owen Lepiten. After Tababa starred in Lepiten’s award-winning Sunog sa Sugbo at the previous Sine Kabataan, the duo reunited—this time with Tababa at the director’s helm and Lepiten as the film producer.

These awards reflect the artistic vision, technical skill, and dedication of the entire production crew. The USC community congratulates the team on their achievement. Screening schedules and upcoming showcase details will be released shortly.

Join a legacy of sustained excellence. Be a Carolinian filmmaker.
