UP Cebu inIT is UP Cebu’s Technology Transfer and Business Development Office which supports innovative and new technology inventions be it from start-ups or from researches of students and faculty members of UP Cebu.

Indeed, it was truly heartwarming to listen to UP Cebu’s researches presented during the 2024 Innovation and Technology Transfer Summit 2024 for the Visayas.

Immensely proud of Gerald Marco for garnering the second place in the Pitch Quest competition for Entrepeneurs’ category, sponsored by DOST. This was held today during the Innovation and Technology Transfer Summit at Marco Polo Cebu Plaza Hotel.

His BioConnectify intends to address procurement issues for Life sciences research by connecting researchers and suppliers to fast track their procurement.

Manuel Jacob Jamio, or simply MJ, is a graduate of UP Cebu BS Mathematics, Class 2016. MJ is an active UP Serenata Choir member and works by day as a para planner for an Australian financial planning firm and as a designer when time allows. Last October, MJ garnered first place in the Sheraton Hotel sponsored Wedding Gown Design Competition. We are very proud on this achievement of yours, MJ!

During my Chancellorship of UP Cebu, I had strongly supported innovation, design and entrepeneurship, which were visible in the proliferation at UP Cebu of research centers like the Fabrication Laboratory or better known as FabLab, the so-called STiiTCh to support MSMEs and the strengthening under my term of the Technology Business Incubation or TBI. Likewise, until now, I sit as a member of DOST’s Fairness Opinion Board or FOB which asseses the fairness of terms in the transfer of technology between a Licensor and Licensee of new and innovative technology.

In pursuance of this advocacy, even after my active UP Cebu days, I am now rededicating and devoting my Chancellor’s FB Page to CELEBRATE accomplishments of UP Cebu’s alumni and retirees in the field of INNOVATION, DESIGN & ENTREPENEURSHIP!
