Congratulations to Engr. Hannah Faye Rafols and Fr. John Ferdinand Cruz, SVD for bringing home Best Presentation and Best Presenter awards 🌏🏆

The University of San Carlos and the entire Carolinian community are beaming with pride as we celebrate the success of Engr. Hannah Faye Rafols and Fr. John Ferdinand Cruz, SVD.

During the 11th International Conference on Building Materials and Construction (ICBMC 2026) held in Tokyo, Japan, Engr. Hannah Faye Rafols was awarded BEST PRESENTATION for her paper titled “Green Concrete & Mortar: Meeting Local Requirements and Reducing GWP – A Case in the Philippines.”

On the other hand, Fr. John Ferdinand Cruz, SVD, was also awarded BEST PRESENTER for his paper titled “Storm Water Surface Runoff Utilization of the University of San Carlos Campus, Talamban, Cebu City, Philippines,” during the 14th International Mechanical Engineering Research Conference (IMERC 2026) hosted by the USC Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.

From USC to Japan. Congrats to our future civil engineers ☺️👏🎊🎉

Our student delegates—Joseph Kyle Baid, Ian Evander Agripo, Reywell Pit Niño Antolijao, Mary Lourdes Ferolin, Louis Zynne Bejona, Jim Richard Gatchalian, and Alexandra Louise Singzon—have just received job offers from Japanese companies after completing a 10-day Project-Based Learning (PBL) and on-site training program in Japan.

Japanese employers have expressed their full support, waiting for our Carolinians to pass the Civil Engineering Licensure Exam (CELE) before starting their international careers. This is a testament to the quality of training and character our students possess.

A huge thank you to the faculty and mentors of the USC Department of Civil Engineering, as well as the families who cheered them on every step of the way.

To the students, know that USC is with you as you take the next steps in your dreams. You have our full support.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 — 𝙐𝙎𝘾 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙚 🧠⚙️

Last March 12, 2026, students from the Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering departments of the University of San Carlos – School of Engineering proudly competed in the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇 𝗕𝗼𝘄𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 hosted by the University of the Philippines Cebu.

Representing USC were two formidable teams:

Rising through the ranks, 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗕 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲, while 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗔 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲, proving that precision, teamwork, and discipline define what it means to be Carolinian Engineers.
