Department of Accountancy Holds Strategic Leadership Meeting with PwC Delegates
The Department of Accountancy leadership team recently met with delegates from PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) to explore strengthened industry–academe collaboration and future partnership initiatives.
Representing PwC in the meeting were:
• Yochika Nakagawa – Human Capital Senior Manager
• Jewel Villanueva, RPm – Human Capital Associate
The strategic discussion focused on aligning academic preparation with the rapidly evolving demands of the accounting profession and global business environment.
A major area of collaboration explored was curriculum review and advisory support, where PwC offered insights to help ensure that the program remains responsive to industry standards, regulatory developments, digital transformation, and global best practices.
Beyond technical competencies, the conversation emphasized holistic formation of students. Proposed initiatives include:
• Soft skills development talks focusing on leadership, communication, and workplace readiness
• Mental Health First Aid awareness sessions to strengthen resilience and psychological preparedness among future professionals
• Faculty immersion programs to provide educators with updated industry exposure and practical insights
• Guidance on international trade and global business practices
• Discussions on AI integration in accounting practice and consultancy, particularly in audit, tax, advisory services, and data analytics
PwC representatives highlighted the importance of developing graduates who combine technical excellence with adaptability, ethical grounding, analytical thinking, and digital competence. The Department of Accountancy reaffirmed its commitment to continuously enhancing its curriculum and student development initiatives to produce globally competitive and values-driven professionals.
