The CPAd Perspective, the official student publication of the College of Public Administration, was recognized as Best Cover Design at the 11th Gawad Floro S. Crisologo, held at the UNP Marcos Hall on April 8, 2026.
The University of Northern Philippines, through the Office of Student Affairs and Services, continues its tradition of honoring students who contribute to the universityโs vision, mission, and 12 development goals.
The annual event recognized outstanding students and student organizations for their achievements and contributions. With the theme โSowing Resilience, Harvesting Greatness,โ the ceremony highlighted student leaders, journalists, athletes, and culture and arts performers who brought pride to the university through international, national, and regional competitions.
The Best Cover Design award is credited to the creativity of the CPAd layout editor and photojournalist, Reena Mizzette R. Ped.
CPAd Perspective: Gundaway is the second regular issue for the Academic Year 2025โ2026. According to the layout editor, โGundawayโ means chance. The cover shows lives shaped by the sea. Communities build their daily work around fishing. Boats, nets, and quiet waiting define their routine. The image captures a moment between land and water, between effort and outcome. In this still frame, chance takes form, along with the hope the sea gives for another opportunity to continue.
โGundawayโ speaks of hope. It reminds readers that chance connects with effort and patience. Each tide brings a shared opportunity for those whose lives remain tied to the shoreline.
โPhotography has been my comfort. I remember taking a photo of a fisherman along the coast of my hometown. It was a golden afternoon. I could sense the calmness of the sea and the golden sky. I fell in love with the scenery and captured it through my lens," Ped added.
Notably, the photograph was featured in the Peopleโs Environment Summit Photo Exhibit, where it received the Sirmata Award for its strong visual storytelling.
The 8th Gawad Floro S. Crisologo in 2023, CPAd Perspective won the Best Cover Design, with the same layout editor and photojournalist.
Editor-in-Chief Ms. Marianne Perez and Adviser Prof. Joana E. Rivad also received certificates of appreciation for their dedicated service.
