Senior BS Agricultural Biotechnology (BS ABT) students gathered for the ABT 199 Student Conference on May 16, 2026, hosted by the Institute of Crop Science (ICropS). Spearheaded by the students and guided by faculty-in-charge Dr. Hayde F. Galvez and Asst. Prof. Anand Noel C. Manohar, the event provided an avenue for these budding scientists to get a glimpse of what to expect after graduating from the program. With the theme, “From Genes to Yields: Integrating Agricultural Biotechnology for a Sustainable Future,” the students presented their research through rapid-fire talks and poster sessions, highlighting applied biotechnological methods to solve relevant agricultural problems.

Faculty, REPS, and students from the Institute of Crop Science (ICropS), College of Agriculture and Food Science, UPLB actively participated in the ISSAAS National Scientific Congress 2026 and International Forum on Agritourism and Climate Resilience held from April 27 to 30, 2026, and hosted by Batanes State College and ISSAAS Philippines. The conference gathered researchers, scientists, educators, extension workers, and students from various institutions to share innovations and research initiatives addressing sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and food security.

The ABT Webinar Series of Project LAYAG (Linang At Yaman ng Kaalaman sa AGbioteknolohiya) is an extension initiative designed to enhance knowledge and appreciation of agricultural biotechnology among students, educators, and other stakeholders. The series features expert-led discussions on emerging concepts, tools, and applications in biotechnology, with the goal of strengthening scientific understanding, building confidence in biotechnology-related topics, and promoting informed engagement with advances in agricultural science.

Today we listen to three experts doing biotech research on fisheries and aquaculture.

We hope to gain more knowledge on this topic, so stay tune and enjoy.
