Established on November 29, 1978, the UPLB Zoological Society (OZOOMS) is a duly recognized academic organization of the University of the Philippines Los Baños. For over 40 years, the organization continues to promote academic excellence, service, leadership, and commitment through its various initiatives centered around environmental protection and biodiversity conservation. Housing over 600 mem

bers, OZOOMS has aided some of the country's best and brightest in realizing their potential to serve the Filipino people. Despite generational divide, the organization has proven time and time again that indeed OZOOMS is not a phylum or a class, but a family.

Last Sunday, May 17, 2026, the UPLB Zoological Society gathered for its Induction Rites. 🕯️💙

Together, we welcomed our newest resident members into the Society and witnessed the formal transition of leadership to the newly elected Grand Council. Each oath taken and every candle lit served as a reminder of the commitment, responsibility, and passion that bind us as one community. 🤝✨

To our new members, welcome to the family. We are excited to see the unique perspectives, talents, and enthusiasm you bring as you begin your journey with the Society. 🫂🌿

To the incoming Grand Council, may your term be defined by service, integrity, and a steadfast dedication to the organization and its members. May you lead with both purpose and compassion as you guide the Society forward. 🎖️💪

There’s never a dull moment when you’re around. From your oddly specific TikTok references to the most niche things you somehow pull from every corner of the internet, you make conversations feel effortless and fun in a way that’s uniquely yours. You always know how to keep people entertained, and somehow even the most random topics become memorable when they come from you. 🌐🎶

But beyond the humor and the jokes, there’s also something so naturally eloquent about the way you carry yourself. You speak with intention, express your thoughts so well, and have this charm that makes people genuinely want to listen. It’s nice to know someone who can be both incredibly funny and deeply articulate at the same time. ✨

You make people feel included, understood, and comfortable just by being yourself, and that’s such a special thing to have. We, the people around you, are so lucky to know you and even luckier to grow alongside you in this chapter of life. 🫂

In the space between laughter and silence, Joan is not beholden to one emotion. She is a testament to the full spectrum of the human experience — all-smiles during her triumphs and a willing passenger to the passing sadness at the day’s end.

A sitcom enjoyer, a green-lover, and a certified food estab recommender, Joan wears her heart on her sleeve to make every moment count. Spend enough time with her and she’ll see to it that your stomach aches from all the banter. Watch more episodes with her and the characters onscreen are sure to move your soul and lift your spirits.

Beyond all that, Joan is also one of the best people to talk to about anything. The way she speaks is comforting, and she always knows how to make people feel understood. A week has passed since the Dr. Avelex S. Amor Memorial Medical Mission 2026, and its impact continues to stay with us—a reminder of what people can achieve together in service. ⚕️💙

Because of our donors and sponsors, we were able to extend not just medical assistance, but hope and reassurance to the communities we reached. Your support powered every consultation, every medicine given, and every life touched. 💊💉

Our volunteers, resident members, medical students, and doctors brought the mission to life—offering their time, skills, and compassion in every interaction. 🤝✨

We also thank the Amor family for entrusting us with Dr. Avelex’s legacy, which continues to live on through every person served. 🫂👨🏻‍⚕️

As we move forward, we remain committed to reaching more lives and continuing a legacy rooted in service. 👥❤️

𝑫𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒃𝒚 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆, 𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈. 💙

A day of service. A community cared for. A legacy carried forward.

Last April 18, 2026, the Dr. Avelex S. Amor Memorial Medical Mission was successfully held at Brgy. Tagumpay, Bay, Laguna, bringing essential healthcare services closer to the community. ❤️🤝

Through the combined efforts of the organization’s resident members, the Socio-Cultural and Services Committee Chairpersons, and our dedicated OZOOMS and non-OZOOMS physicians, the mission successfully delivered essential healthcare services to the community. These included free medical consultations, vital sign screenings, the distribution of medicines and hygiene care packs, as well as valuable health education for individuals and families.

This initiative was made possible by the unwavering dedication of our volunteer students and doctors, whose compassion and commitment turned service into impact. 👨‍⚕️✨ We also extend our sincere appreciation to our partner organizations for their invaluable support, helping us reach more lives and create lasting change.

In honoring the legacy of Dr. Avelex S. Amor, we reaffirm our commitment to accessible and compassionate healthcare—serving communities one mission at a time.
