CotSU Office of Extension Services recently conducted a benchmarking visit to SUC’s XII to learn from their best practices in extension programs. We were mentored on effective incentive systems and deloading mechanisms for Faculty and staff, gaining valuable insights, to strengthen our community engagement programs.

The inspiring exchange of knowledge help us enhance our extension services, empowering our team, and create a greater impact in the communities we serve!

We are grateful to the host institutions, through their extension Director, Dr Glyn Magbanua of the University of Southern Mindanao and Dr. Michael Buenavides and Dr Adonis Basa, Extension Directors of Sultan Kudarat State University for their warm welcome and generosity in sharing their expertise.

Your enthusiasm, dedication, & active involvement from day 1 to the closing program were instrumental in making this 3-day activity a resounding success. We’re deeply grateful for the energy and commitment you brought to the program.

The training has not only equipped you with valuable skills but has also served as an eye-opener for many of you as emerging professionals in extension. Empowering you to be the agents of change in improving the lives of people and elevating their standard of living. Upskilling the extensionists!!!

October 28, 2025- With the theme “Enhancing Extension Excellence:Building Capacity for Impact”, the Office of Extension Services (OES) held upskilling the extensionist activity as part of its effort to enhance extensionists’ capability especially in conducting extension services.

Invited as resource person was Dr. Ardniel Baladjay from the University of Southern Mindanao who exhaustively and interactively discussed modules relevant to writing extension proposals.

On the first day, modules on the overview of extension, management of development program, key concepts and definitions in project proposal development and picking the right topic were discussed.

Having the participants plan and think on their proposals to be presented in the succeeding days wrapped up the first day session.

Building Sustainable Communities through Women's Empowerment! 🌿
The Social Work Department recently conducted a meaningful Community Extension Project titled "Women Empowerment through Self-Help Groups" with the Garbe Women Agricultural Cooperative in Buldon, Maguindanao del Norte, on April 9-10, 2025. This research-based extension project aimed to

✅ Build social capital and networks through an engaging forum with the MAFAR Municipal Office of Buldon, represented by Mr. Hamdi Mamoribid; the Cooperative and Social Enterprise Authority, represented by Mr. Lininding Pangandaman; and the RSW and Municipal Cooperative and Development Officer, Mr. Faizal Manalao.
✅ Enhance gender awareness to promote inclusivity and equality. Asst. Professor Zajarah M. Duma facilitated a training session on gender sensitivity.
✅ Strengthen organizational capacity with a seminar-workshop on strategic planning, facilitated by Dr. Marwisa Salam and Chelo M. Bunao, and on entrepreneurial leadership, facilitated by Noraida A. Akad and Norkaina C. Samama.

This initiative is just the beginning of fostering sustainable change and empowerment in our community! This extension project aims to advance and contribute to achieving the following key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

🔹 SDG 5 (Gender Equality)—Enhanced gender awareness to empower women in leadership and decision-making.
🔹 SDG 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth): Strengthened entrepreneurial leadership and organizational capacity for sustainable livelihoods.
🔹 SDG 10 (reduced inequalities)—Social capital was fostered through multi-sectoral collaboration and inclusive forums.
🔹 SDG 17 (partnerships for the goals)—key agencies were engaged to drive collective action for community resilience.e.

The project is spearheaded by its project leader, Dr. Norkaina C. Samama, RSW, En. P., under the supervision of the Office of Extension Services, headed by its director, Dr. Samsia A. Ibrahim, and under the transformative leadership of the university president, Prof. Sema G. Dilna.

The project team expressed its appreciation to all its partners, especially to the BLGU of Karim, Buldon, headed by Hon. Atty. Cader Manalao, for the warm accommodation.

This initiative reflects the university's unwavering mission to leverage education and partnerships to uplift communities and foster sustainable socio-economic change!

As part of its monthly monitoring and assessment of the office, CSU-OES held a meeting with the unit heads and extension coordinators. Present in the meeting were the Vice-President for research,extension and resource generation Dr. Teng Alim and Dr. Abdulsamad Shaik, dean of the graduate school.

Chaired by the OES Director, Dr. Samsia A. Ibrahim, the following agenda were discussed: presentation of enhanced ecxtension manual of operation, results of monitoring and evaluation, call for proposals and other matters.

February 20, 21 and 27- The Cotabato State Univetsity- Office of Extension Services conducted an enhancement of the manual of operations. This is to streamline the delivery of basic services of the office as well as respond to its mandate through its banner program RISE BANGSAMORO.

The said activity was spearheaded by Dr. Samsia A. Ibrahim, director of extension, who chaired the committee in enhancing the manual of operations. Among the members were esteemed professors Dr. Maripaz C. Abas, Dr. Ombra Imam, Dr. Saidamen Bagolong, Dr. Norkaina Samama, the Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Radzata Abdulgani, university accountant Dr. Nick Aduana and the vice president for research, extension and resource generation Dr. Teng Alim.

The unit heads of the OES Dr. Marwisa Salam, Dr. Mobarac Dimasindel, Sir Michael Ibrahim, Sir Franklin Tizon and Dr. Analiza Macacua were the facilitators especially during breakout sessions.
