In line with Office Memo No. C-016, s. 2026, and pursuant to CTU Memorandum No. PD06-112, s. 2026, Cebu Technological University–Daanbantayan Campus announces the suspension of all on-site activities and the implementation of adjusted work and class arrangements following the magnitude 5.1 earthquake that affected Northern Cebu on April 6, 2026.

Face-to-face classes are hereby suspended effective immediately and shall transition to an asynchronous mode of learning to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, faculty, and personnel. Administrative offices shall adopt flexible work arrangements, including Work-from-Home (WFH) schemes, while ensuring the continuity of essential services through a skeletal workforce.

In coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU) and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO), all campus buildings and facilities shall undergo comprehensive inspection and assessment to verify structural integrity. All premises are to be vacated to facilitate proper evaluation, and re-entry shall only be permitted upon official confirmation that the facilities are safe for occupancy.

Only authorized personnel—such as security, maintenance staff, and other key officials—may report on-site, provided that all activities are conducted within designated safe areas and under strict supervision.

All members of the university community are strongly advised to remain vigilant, prioritize safety at all times, and await further official announcements for subsequent updates.

If nagdahum ka nga ang pinaka-challenging nga part karon nga simanaha kay kung pila ka bowls sa binignit imong makaya kaonon pero mas lisod gud tubagon kung asa ka nagkuwang nganong na back burner lang gihapon ka.

Maskin paman nga ang utok nato karon murag binignit na kay sagol-sagol na ang impormasyon: naay concepts, naay formulas, naa pud uban nga wala gyud klaro kung asa ka mulugar. Pero bisan pa ana, laban gihapon ta! Kay dili pwede nga ang binignit ra ang init ug tam-is — dapat apil sad atong grado!

The Supreme Student Government (SSG) of Cebu Technological University–Daanbantayan Campus underscores a significant development in student welfare following the official launch of the “Libreng Sakay” (Free Ride Program) pilot run on March 30, 2026. The initiative marks a milestone in addressing the transportation concerns of students, particularly those commuting from distant barangays.

This progress comes after the SSG’s earlier courtesy visit with key stakeholders, where student leaders formally raised concerns regarding accessibility, safety, and the daily commuting challenges faced by the student body. After a period of anticipation and continued coordination, these concerns have now been acknowledged and acted upon by the Municipal Mayor and members of the local council, resulting in the implementation of a concrete and student-centered solution.

The pilot testing of the Libreng Sakay program commenced at 9:30 PM, with the initial route entering the CTU–Daanbantayan Campus vicinity. The program is being implemented by the Municipality of Daanbantayan, under the leadership of Mayor Gilbert Arrabis Jr., in coordination with campus officials and municipal offices. It operates on a first come, first served basis, covering two primary routes: CTU–Bagay–Bateria and CTU–Dalingding–Bakhawan.

In addition to the evening trips, a morning schedule at 6:30 AM has been introduced to cater to students attending early classes. The pilot phase will serve as a basis for further improvements, with full implementation targeted on April 6, 2026.

The SSG extends its sincere appreciation to all stakeholders involved in bringing this initiative to fruition. The launch of the Libreng Sakay program stands as a testament to what can be achieved when concerns are heard, acted upon, and translated into meaningful public service.
