Dean Dr. Jordan Llego Joins The Permanente Journal’s Preferred Peer Reviewers Program

The College of Nursing proudly congratulates Dean Dr. Jordan Llego on being accepted into The Permanente Journal’s Preferred Peer Reviewers Program, a recognition that highlights his growing international contribution to scholarly publishing, evidence-based practice, and the advancement of health sciences research.

The Permanente Journal is a peer-reviewed, diamond open-access journal that publishes research and scholarly work relevant to interdisciplinary care teams, clinical researchers, educators, and learners. Its articles undergo rigorous peer review and are indexed in major databases, including PubMed, PubMed Central, EBSCO, and Scopus.

Dr. Llego’s selection reflects his strong academic background, extensive research productivity, and demonstrated competence as a peer reviewer for national and international scholarly journals. His expertise in nursing education, leadership, clinical practice, student development, moral distress, and health systems research positions him to contribute meaningfully to the journal’s mission of advancing clinical and scientific knowledge for patient care.

This recognition is significant because peer reviewers serve as guardians of research quality. Through rigorous, fair, and constructive evaluation, they help authors improve the clarity, validity, and scholarly value of their manuscripts while protecting the integrity of scientific literature. The Permanente Journal emphasizes that good peer review benefits authors, readers, and the wider research community by strengthening the rigor and trustworthiness of published work.

For Dr. Llego, joining this program provides an opportunity to further expand his international scholarly service, collaborate with a respected medical and health sciences journal, and contribute to the global dissemination of high-quality, evidence-based research. For the College of Nursing and the University community, this achievement reinforces our commitment to academic excellence, research leadership, and meaningful participation in the global scientific community.

Congratulations, Dean Dr. Jordan Llego, on this well-deserved recognition and continued contribution to scholarly peer review.

Message for Nurses Week and the Birthday of Florence Nightingale

Warm greetings to the entire College of Nursing and Midwifery as we celebrate Nurses Week and commemorate the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

This meaningful occasion reminds us of the noble calling of nursing and midwifery—a profession grounded in compassion, competence, courage, and service. Florence Nightingale’s legacy continues to inspire every nurse, midwife, educator, and student to uphold the highest standards of care, leadership, and humanity.

To our faculty, clinical instructors, students, alumni, and partners in healthcare, may this celebration renew our commitment to excellence in nursing and midwifery education. Let us continue to form future nurses and midwives who are not only skilled and knowledgeable, but also deeply caring, ethical, and responsive to the needs of individuals, families, and communities.

As we honor the light that Florence Nightingale brought to the world, may we also recognize the light within each of us—the light of service, healing, resilience, and hope.

Happy Nurses Week to the College of Nursing and Midwifery. May we continue to lead, serve, and inspire with heart and purpose.
