You are now poised to embark on an exciting academic journey at one of the leading institutions in the region. We commend your efforts and eagerly anticipate welcoming you into the vibrant Bicol University community.

For those who were not admitted this year, we acknowledge the considerable effort you invested in the application process. A total of 619 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 have been placed on the waitlist, and we encourage you to remain hopeful, as opportunities may arise in the near future.

It has come to our attention that several concerns and sentiments have surfaced regarding the 𝗕𝗨𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗨𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗚 𝗚𝘆𝗺𝗻𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺. We acknowledge the concerns raised by the student body but we would also like to clarify that the CAL College Student Council were not the organizers of this event. The council’s role in the recognition has been limited to ushering and dissemination of information related to the recognition rites.

Firstly, for the posting of the list of awardees, we were given a strict directive to disseminate the list only through the group chats and not on the BUCAL CSC page. The list provided by the Registrar was strictly intended for dissemination purposes through the GCs only. Otherwise, the council was already prepared to post the list publicly.

With the flow of the program, it was the admin’s decision to forego the previous instructions and move forward with new directives that were then announced as the event was taking place. The blockings for the awarding ceremony kept changing, which caused confusion among the ushers assigned to assist the students due to receiving different instructions from different people. The pacing of the awarding ceremony was decided upon by the admin, as we were only instructed to follow these given instructions.

Decisions regarding medals and pins were determined at the administrative level since they are the organizers of the event. The council had no jurisdiction over these matters. Aside from that, changes in the seating arrangement and the overall flow of the event were not coordinated with the council during the event. We were also only informed when instructions were already given onstage.

The certificates and awards were prepared by the admin, and although we have suggested to provide students with pins and medals for all awardees, this request was declined due to lack of funds, and the council was not informed that there were no pins for students who are DLs for two semesters. The council was not informed that there will be a distribution of pins. Even the distribution of the certificates were actually not tasks that were given to us prior to the event, but we did it because it was a directive at that time.

Despite the sudden changes and the lack of overall jurisdiction that the council had on the event, we also tried our best to work with the admin during the event and make sure that the students are well assisted, however, we were met with confusing instructions, and last minute changes that were not consulted to us prior to announcing it.

In preparation for the upcoming Bucal Recognition Ceremony 2026, the Bicol University College of Arts and Letters Student Council in coordination with the Bicol University College of Arts and Letters-Administration, formally presents the Seat designation.

Join us this May 7, 2026, 7:00 AM at the Buceng Gymnasium with the theme: “Class of 2026: Values-driven Workforce, Digitally Inclined Lifelong Learners”.

In line with 𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙘𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙨, the official list of awardees will not be posted publicly. We encourage everyone to coordinate with your respective officers and carefully review the shared guidelines.

As we move forward this academic year, the College of Arts and Letters Student Council envisions this assembly as a space to connect, reflect, and align our goals as one college community.

In our pursuit of strengthened service and meaningful progress, we aim to hear your insights, concerns, and aspirations. Your voice matters as we continue to shape initiatives that will benefit CAL and its students. Let us build a more responsive and empowered college, together.

The assembly will be held on April 15, 2026, at 1:00 PM via Zoom or Google Meet. Members of the assembly will be notified via Messenger.
