On February 20, 2026, Bicol University convened a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) as part of its continuing efforts to revise and strengthen the University’s Equity Admission Policy. The activity was held at the PrMO Conference Room, AP Bonto Building, Legazpi City, Albay, with two batches conducted at 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

The discussion was spearheaded by the Technical Working Group (TWG) composed of Dr. Ma. Julieta B. Borres, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. January M. Dechavez; Dr. Salvacion L. Villafuerte; Prof. Indira B. Tabo; Mr. Reuben Kyle O. Bron; Dr. Sharlene C. Lucillo; and Prof. Christian C. Calleja.

Participants from various colleges and campuses joined the dialogue:

Batch 1: Tabaco, Polangui, CBEM, IPESR, CS, Gubat, CDM, JMRIGD
Batch 2: CAL, RDE, CN, CIT, CENG, CSSP, BU Guinobatan, BUIDEA, CE

The FGD aimed to ensure that the University’s Equity Admission Policy remains responsive, inclusive, and reflective of the needs of marginalized and underrepresented sectors. The valuable insights shared will guide data-driven improvements in admission processes.

This initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), reinforcing the University’s commitment to inclusive access and equitable opportunities in higher education.

In adherence to Administrative Order No. 1134, s. 2025, the University’s Technical Working Group (TWG) gathers to review and finalize the Learning Continuity Plan (LCP)—a key framework ensuring uninterrupted quality education for all stakeholders.

Attendees include Dr. Ma. Julieta B. Borres, VP for Academic Affairs & TWG Chair, Dr. Salvacion L. Villafuerte, Prof. Mark Glenn L. Tejada, and Dr. Rommel Evan J. Paje.

LOCAL PROMOTION (2025)

The University Faculty Merit and Selection Board convened on February 16, 2026 at the Discussion Room, Ground Floor of the Bicol University Library, pursuant to Administrative Order No. 1134, s. 2025, constituting the Board for the 2025 Local Promotion (1st Round).

The meeting was held to discuss the initial evaluation results of applicants for local promotion. This deliberation is essential to ensure a careful, and thorough review of the preliminary results in accordance with existing university policies and established promotion guidelines.

The Committee was headed by Dr. Ma. Julieta B. Borres, Vice President for Academic Affairs, together with Prof. Indira B. Tabo, Engr. P*e Jay M. Gealone, Ms. Venus Mae P. Oraye, Ms. Christine Z. Belgica, Ms. Janine Opena, Ms. Donnabelle Alaurin, Ms. Sophia Erika Abanto and Ms. Julianne Nicolle Moral.

The Technical Working Group tasked to review Bicol University's Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) convened today, February 12, 2026.

With Dr. Ma. Julieta B. Borres, BU-VPAA, heading the said meeting, Prof. Mark Glenn Tejada presented the initial draft of the proposed LCP of the University. The members engaged in a productive discussion and critiquing of the proposal.

Valuable insights and recommendations were also shared to further strengthen the University’s strategies for academic continuity and resilience.
