At first glance, this feels like a set of cozy hillside cabins carved directly into the landscape. But behind the soft curves and green roof lies a rugged industrial backbone. This project transforms standard shipping containers into a fully earth-sheltered retreat, using terrain itself as insulation, structure, and shelter.
The build begins with multiple containers embedded into a sloped hillside, forming a strong, load-bearing core. Over them, curved structural shells and timber cladding create arched facades that soften the container geometry. A living green roof blends the home into its surroundings while dramatically improving thermal performance, wind protection, and visual harmony with the land.
