𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒–𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐁 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: 𝐀𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.
The Student Media and Publication Office (SMPO) welcomed the new academic year on September 23, 2026 on September 23, 2026, through ALAB 2026: Amplifying Voices, Building Connections, an assembly that brought together the members of The HERALDO FILIPINO and Vicissitude.
The event also featured a new batch of fresh faces to SMPO as the two publications introduced their newly recruited members and shared their latest accomplishments and plans for the academic year.
The HERALDO FILIPINO’s Editor in Chief, Carlo G. Mendoza and Vicissitude’s Executive Editor, Jaisen V. Baloy officially welcomed their newly recruited members to SMPO and provided an overview of their publication’s recent milestones and developments.
Anchored on the core principles of One Policy. One Framework. Shared Responsibility, SMPO Director Jemily Puchero highlighted the office’s commitment to supporting the growth and development of student journalists. She revisited key provisions of the Student Media Policy, particularly those concerning ethical journalism, support systems, and the responsibilities that come with being part of a recognized student media organization.
Puchero reminded the student journalists that their work carries a responsibility not only to their publications but also to the university and community they serve. She closed her segment by reaffirming SMPO’s commitment to creating a space where every student’s voice can be heard.
ALAB 2026 ended with activities that gave members of The HERALDO FILIPINO and Vicissitude an opportunity to get to know one another beyond their editorial work. More than a welcome for the new academic year, the gathering set the tone for a stronger sense of community among the student journalists who will carry their publications forward this year.
