Architecture graduate Andrei Ean Montiero of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas has been shortlisted in the Best Thesis category of the Anthology ASEAN Architecture Festival: End of Year Show. The annual event recognizes outstanding architecture graduates in the Philippines by showcasing their best thesis projects and design works.
Montiero's thesis, titled "A Proposed Cultural Edutainment Hub for the Ibanag Community in Tuguegarao City," addresses the gradual decline of Ibanag cultural identity brought about by modernization, urbanization, migration, and the weakening transmission of traditions to younger generations. The proposed project envisions an interactive cultural hub that combines education and entertainment through immersive exhibitions, performances, workshops, and community spaces designed to preserve and promote Ibanag heritage.
The study also aims to strengthen cultural identity, encourage heritage education, support cultural tourism, and contribute to local economic development. By using culturally responsive architecture and experiential learning, the proposed hub seeks to transform heritage preservation into an engaging community experience. The Anthology ASEAN Architecture Festival End of Year Show serves as a platform for recognizing the country's top graduating architecture students and their innovative thesis projects.
