Seasoned educator. Industry-tested engineer. Proud DMMA alumnus. Today, 3E Jarius Suelan serves as Assistant Dean of the Marine Engineering Department—proving that perseverance and purpose can bring any journey home.

A proud DMMA graduate with a BS in Marine Engineering (2002), Suelan began his career on a strong footing: he joined the prestigious Marlow Navigation Cadetship Program in Germany and earned his 3rd Engineer’s (Third Engineer’s) license. Those years at sea forged discipline, accountability, and the technical excellence expected from industry-ready marine engineers.

Suelan’s route wasn’t linear. After time at sea, he explored a “roller coaster ride” of career options—temporarily stepping away from seafaring to pursue diverse roles, including work in the call center industry. On paper, it was a pivot; in practice, it sharpened the leadership, communication, and problem-solving he now brings to the classroom and the dean’s office.

In a powerful return to his roots, Suelan discovered his calling in education—choosing to teach at his alma mater, DMMA. More than a career change, it was the moment his journey came full circle. Since 2011, his dedication and work ethic have propelled him into an administrative role as Assistant Dean and as Moderator of a multi-awarded department organization, the Student Organization of Marine Engineering (SOME)—where he now shapes the next generation of marine engineers.

Early mornings at DMMA College of Southern Philippines hum with simulations, tool checks, and hands-on learning. In the middle of that purposeful energy is 3E Jarius Suelan—a steady mentor and Assistant Dean of the Marine Engineering Department. His career stands as living proof that determination pays off and that purpose can bring a professional journey full circle.

Following the recent earthquake, DMMA College of Southern Philippines will have no classes and office operations on Monday, October 13, 2025.

This suspension is in compliance with the ongoing structural and facilities inspection mandated by the Davao City Government to ensure the safety of everyone on campus.

Let us continue to stay vigilant and prioritize safety. Further updates will be communicated once inspections are completed.

All classes are suspended immediately following the magnitude 7.6 earthquake that struck Mindanao at 9:43 a.m. today, Friday, October 10, 2025.

The quake, with an epicenter 62 km southeast of Manay, Davao Oriental at a depth of 10 km, was strongly felt in Davao City.

The safety of everyone is our utmost priority. Please remain alert, move to safe areas, and avoid unnecessary movement. Our Safety Management Team will be inspecting all buildings and facilities before further advisories are released.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫!

The Student Council of DMMA College of Southern Philippines is proud to bring affordable haircuts right inside the campus. In line with our institution’s haircut policy, this initiative is designed not only to help students remain neat and disciplined but also to give our fellow students with grooming skills the opportunity to serve their peers and showcase their talents.

Service Rate: ₱70 only ₱50 goes directly to the student groomer ₱20 supports Student Council projects.

Schedule: Every last Saturday and Sunday of the month, right before the first Monday.

This service is completely optional. Students may freely decide whether to avail of the haircut or not. It is simply our way of offering convenience, supporting student talents, and promoting discipline within our school.

Let us work together in supporting our peers and upholding the values of neatness and responsibility in our DMMA family.
