ATTENTION | 2ND SIGA GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SIGA UP Mindanao invites 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙨 (𝘿𝙃𝙆) to attend the upcoming 2𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙄𝙂𝘼 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙮. This assembly will focus on the Iskoka Screening for the upcoming Iskoka and Torch Night 2026, providing members with an opportunity to learn about the screening mechanics, participate in the screening proper, and recognize the official Iskoka candidates.

The General Assembly also aims to encourage active participation among the SIGA community and provide a platform for members to take part in the democratic selection of representatives who will represent the Department of Human Kinetics and their assigned sector.

UPCAT 2027 applicants who took the exam must update, fill out and submit their Forms 1 and 2B through the online portal. Certified true copies of Grades 8, 9, 10, and 11 must also be submitted to the UP Office of Admissions, located at UP Diliman, Quezon City.

Access the applicant's online portal at https://upcat2027online.up.edu.ph/

Deadline is extended again until 15 September 2026.

Failure to submit your online Form 2B and the required hard copy of your grades may result in your application not being processed.

Please be reminded to NOT withdraw your application if you have incorrect information in the online application.

The Sports Academy welcomes the PPRT Tadjimalela Pencak Silat team once again to UP Mindanao, headed by its founder, Coach Ian Christopher Calo - former national athlete.

Sports Academy – Pencak Silat officially begins on 𝟎𝟓 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (Saturday) at the DC-UP Sports Complex Training Gymnasium. Sessions will be held every Saturday, with the objective of equipping participants with the fundamentals and skills in 𝙏𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 (Sparring) and 𝙎𝙚𝙣𝙞 (Artistic) by 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

Training is open to participants of all ages!

READ | The Davao City Arnis Team, under the Kapatirang Doble Olisi Escrima (KDOE), along with the current and former DHK Arnis student-athletes were invited by the Davao City Sports Development Division to honor their recent medal haul at the 2026 PEKAF National Battle of Champions.

The Davao City delegation brought home 11 medals with four gold, one silver, and six bronze.

Incoming DHK Bachelor of Sports Science (BSS) student, Chrisxelyn Familar led Davao City’s medal haul, winning gold in the Padded Stick event and was officially qualified for the Philippine National Arnis Team.

A special thank you to the DCSDD for the warm recognition our student-athletes put into every match. Pugay!

The Davao City-UP Sports Complex Training Gym served as the venue for the 𝟏𝟗𝐭𝐡 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐰 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐳 𝐙𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐢 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐢 𝐄𝐬𝐤𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, held 22-23 August 2026.

The event was organized by the Kapatirang Doble Olisi Eskrima (KDOE) in partnership with the Philippine Escrima Kali Arnis Federation (PEKAF), the Davao City Sports Development Division Office, and the DC-UP Sports Complex Management.

The competition brought together a total of 670 young athletes, composed of 459 Junior and 211 Cadet competitors, representing various arnis teams and schools. Participating teams included Alpha Mabini Arnis Knights, Alpha DDO, BCT Arnis Team, Black Armor, Black Cat Arnis Club, Blazing Swords, Cabantian National High School Arnis Club, Calinan National High School, Cotabato Dragons Arnis Club, Davao del Norte Regional Sports Academy, Davao City Special National High School, Davao City Special School, DCAT, ETEMAI Digos, Godcare-AOFNHS, Godcare-Bosque, Godcares Lasang, Godcares Panabo, Kalis Pintados, Kapatagan Highlanders Arnis Team, Kapitan Tomas Monterverde Sr. Central Elementary School, Lakan, Madayaw Eskrima, Magallanes Elementary School, Mahayag National High School, Mandirigmang Samalenyo, Matti Digos Tamaraw Vanguards, Precious International School of Davao, RMMC, Sarimanok Arnis Club of Balo-i National High School, SC Kali, SC Magani Sumoddoan Arnis Club, Sero La Panthers Arnis Club, Tacurong Arnis Fusion Squad, Tagum Sacred Warrior, UP Mindanao, ZCAT, Tandang City Arnis Club, and Kiamba Saranggani Arnis Club.

The tournament provided a platform for young arnis practitioners to showcase their skills, discipline, and sportsmanship while fostering camaraderie and strengthening the culture of Arnis, Kali, and Eskrima among participating athletes and teams.
