Some seasons fade with time; others quietly shape the person we become. Two decades after walking the halls of San Pedro College (SPC), Micaella Ruth Mamac still carries the lessons, friendships, and faith that defined her years there.
Entering SPC in 2002, Mamac arrived with the dreams and uncertainties of a young graduate. Her nursing education was far from easy โ content-heavy lectures, nerve-wracking return demonstrations, demanding clinical rotations, long trips to Tagum, Marilog, and Digos, case studies, defenses, and the pressure of completing clinical requirements. Each challenge strengthened her perseverance and taught her that worthwhile goals require time.
Beyond the demands of nursing, serving as a student leader in the BSN Fraternity and Sorority shaped her understanding of leadership. Working alongside fellow students taught her that leadership is not measured by titles or popularity, but by the willingness to serve. This lesson would later follow her into the many roles she embraced as a wife, mother, educator, and leader.
Her years at SPC were also defined by friendships that endured beyond graduation and a faith that carried her through uncertainty. Looking back, she sees Godโs guidance in both unexpected opportunities and challenges that strengthened her character.
โSPC nurtured values that have stayed with me through twenty trips around the sun: a commitment to excellence, a heart for service and a deep appreciation for experiential learning,โ she reflected.
Two decades later, Mamac continues to carry these values beyond the halls where they first took root. Memories may fade with time, but gratitude, she has learned, only grows deeper.
