STATEMENT OF CONDEMNATION AGAINST SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN
The Pi Sigma Pi Sigma Delta Confraternity Alumni Association – Southern Mindanao Region strongly condemns all forms of sexual harassment, abuse, exploitation, intimidation, and violence against women and children. We believe that every person has the fundamental right to dignity, safety, respect, and freedom from any form of harassment or abuse, regardless of affiliation, position, or membership in any organization.
Amid the circulation of online inquiries and accounts concerning alleged sexual harassment involving a member of the Confraternity from another chapter, the PSPSD Alumni Association – Southern Mindanao Region expresses its solidarity with and support for those who have come forward and shared their experiences. We recognize the courage it takes for victims and survivors to speak about experiences that may have caused them pain, fear, or trauma. Their concerns deserve to be heard, taken seriously, and addressed through appropriate and responsible processes.
We call upon the concerned chapter to exercise its responsibility in addressing the matter involving its member. We urge the chapter leadership and appropriate authorities within the organization to conduct a fair, impartial, and thorough inquiry, consistent with due process and applicable laws, policies, and institutional mechanisms. Matters involving allegations of sexual harassment and violence must never be ignored, dismissed, concealed, or treated as merely internal concerns when the safety, dignity, and welfare of individuals are at stake.
We likewise emphasize that membership in the Confraternity carries with it a responsibility to uphold the values and principles that define what it means to be a true Sigman. No individual should use fraternity affiliation, influence, or position as a means to intimidate, harass, exploit, or cause harm to another person. Accountability and integrity must remain fundamental to our fraternity identity.
Moving forward, we call upon every Confraternity member to remain faithful to the principle of “Paglingkuran ang Sambayanan” and to the ideal of being a Paragon of Scholarship. To be a true Sigman is not merely to carry a name, wear an emblem, or belong to a fraternity; it is to live by the values of service, honor, discipline, respect, responsibility, and compassion.
Let this be a reminder that our commitment to service must begin with respect for human dignity. Our pursuit of scholarship must be accompanied by wisdom and moral responsibility. And our brotherhood must never become a shield for wrongdoing or misconduct.
The PSPSD Alumni Association – Southern Mindanao Region stands firmly for a culture where victims and survivors are heard, where allegations are addressed responsibly, where due process is respected, and where every member is held accountable for his actions.
