VOLUNTARY OPT-OUT OF FREE TUITION &
OTHER SCHOOL FEES (OSF)

Did you know?
Students who are able and willing to pay their own tuition may
voluntarily opt out of the Free Tuition and Other School Fees (OSF)
benefits!

What the law says (R.A. No. 10931, Section 8)
“All SUCs and LUCs shall create a mechanism to enable students with financial capacity to pay for their education voluntarily opt out of the subsidy for tuition and other school fees.

Students who successfully opt-out of the free higher education provision during a semester/term shall be exempt from the civic obligation during the same semester/term.”

What it means for you:
*Opting out is fully voluntary—no student is required to do it.
*You will waive Free Tuition and OSF for the semester.
*You will be assessed based on the applicable tuition and OSF rates.

Your decision helps make education more accessible and equitable for all students.

ICYMI | UPMin Receives Certificate of Recognition from PACE

The Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE), through its Trustee, Prof. Karen Joyce Cayamanda of the UP Mindanao Department of Humanities, awarded UP Mindanao a Certificate of Recognition during PACE’s 50th Anniversary celebration on October 25, 2025, at UP Los Baños.

Prof. Cayamanda presented the certificate to Chancellor Lyre Anni Murao, witnessed by Dean Jhoanna Lynn Cruz, during the October 27 Flag Ceremony.

The citation commended UP Mindanao for its “unwavering partnership and invaluable support to PACE through the years,” recognizing its contributions to the advancement of communication and media education and its commitment to academic excellence, collaboration, and professional growth nationwide.

ATTENTION | The Office of the Chancellor has issued a memorandum extending asynchronous classes and work-from-home arrangements until tomorrow, 14 October 2025. This extension allows the Incident Command Team (ICT) to finish its assessment and prepare a full report on the structural safety of University buildings.

Regular on-site work and face-to-face classes will resume once the ICT confirms that all facilities are safe. UP Mindanao continues to monitor the situation and coordinate with the Davao City Government on the next steps.

Those who need emotional or psychological support may reach out to the Psychological Assistance Referral Desk (PARD) for help and counseling.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and continued vigilance. Let us all prioritize safety and collective well-being at all times.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS TODAY!

Extended Deadline Date: 08 SEPTEMBER 2025

UPCAT 2026 applicants who took the exam must update and fill out their Forms 1 and 2B online by 08 September 2025. Access the applicant's portal at https://upcat2026online.up.edu.ph/

Grade 12 schools must also confirm their students in the Form 2A portal by the extended deadline.

Certified true copies of Grades 8, 9, 10, and 11 with the wet signature of the school official must also be submitted to the UP Office of Admissions at T.M. Kalaw corner Quirino Street, UP Diliman, Quezon City.

If you were unable to take the exam, your application will not be processed.

Please be reminded to NOT withdraw your application if you have incorrect information in the online application.
