THE UNIVERSITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF DAVAO CITY IS NOW ACCEPTING SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL APPLICANTS
The University of the Immaculate Conception is on track to implement the K to 12 Program of the government aimed at enhancing the Basic Education System of the Philippines to respond to global challenges for progress and development.
Consistent with its role as a dynamic Catholic educational institution equipped to respond to the challenge of change that envisions progress, UIC has launched and is well on track in the transformation and transition of its Basic Education Department to the K to 12 Program.
The program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School) to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.
For UIC, the crucial phases of transition are in the Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) levels. With careful study, diligent training and preparations, the UIC is ready to open this program to all students and put them on the path of greater opportunities and aspiredfor benefits.
UIC Senior High School students are qualified to receive an Annual Government Vouchers Subsidy for School Fees stipulated in DepEd Guidelines dated September 25, 2014:
Public School Junior High School Graduate: Full Annual Subsidy of Php20,000.00
ESC Grantees from Private Junior High School: Annual maximum subsidy of Php16,000.00
Private Junior High School Graduates who are not ESC Grantees can apply for government subsidy based on the Department of Education (DepEd) guidelines.
Socialized fees are offered to students who will enroll in the evening classes.
The Senior High School program
UIC will make its full transition to the K to 12 Program when it opens its Senior High School (SHS) program and admits students in Grade 11 for school year 2016-2017 and Grade 12 for school year 2017-2018.
The DepEd’s K to 12 program design for SHS includes 15 core subjects (Language, Humanities, Communications, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Philosophy, and PE and Health), 16 track subjects categorized as Contextualized (7) and Specialization (9) subjects.
UIC meets the requirements of this core curriculum, having achieved a record of excellence based on its adequate laboratories for students’ workshops, strong and complete human resources, and school buildings with adequate classrooms. These resources have been audited and aligned with the various programs needed for K to 12.
Curriculum and Instruction
UIC High School teachers have also prepared for the intensified application of the UbD Framework and the initial implementation of the K to 12 program by undergoing the training, “Curricular Visioning and Benchmarking” that puts emphasis on the teacher as a curriculum leader. The training’s lecture-workshop construct enhances teaching effectiveness.
