A space for stories. A legacy worth celebrating.

The University of Mindanao honors the contributions and enduring legacy of Atty. Jesus “Jess” G. Dureza through the Room Dedication Ceremony held today at the UM Library, led by UM President Dr. Guillermo P. Torres Jr.

In attendance were members of the UM Executive and Management Committees together with the University’s librarians and staff. Representing Atty. Dureza on this meaningful occasion were members of his family, who joined the University community in celebrating his remarkable contributions to journalism, public service, and Mindanao.

Atty. Dureza’s connection with the University runs deep. He served as a Member of the UM Board of Trustees from January 2012 to June 2026, contributing his experience and expertise to the University for more than a decade.

A lawyer, journalist, publisher, and public servant, Atty. Dureza’s journey is deeply woven into the story of Mindanao. His years in journalism included his work with the Mindanao Times, where he served as an editor and later as publisher, before pursuing a distinguished career in public service and peace advocacy.

Through this dedicated space, the University of Mindanao recognizes a life of meaningful work and service, a space that will continue to bring together stories, knowledge, and history for generations to come.
