[𝗨𝗦𝗲𝗣 𝗦𝗻𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘀] Impact of Household Electrification in Talaingod, Davao del Norte

One of the initiatives of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) for innovation and community development is the implementation of PISOLAR or Payment Innovation for SHS Ownership by Lay Away Routine. The program provides solar home systems to households in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas to ensure access to reliable and sustainable electricity. Through this initiative, the daily lives of some families in Talaingod, Davao del Norte have significantly improved.

Two beneficiaries shared their gratitude for the program. They highlighted how access to electricity has helped improve living conditions in their community, particularly in education, communication, household safety, and daily activities.

[𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐃] USeP highlights innovation and research initiatives at RRDIC XI 2nd Quarter Meeting 2026

The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) actively participated in the Regional Research, Development, and Innovation Committee (RRDIC XI) 2nd Quarter Regular Meeting held on May 26, 2026, at the Apo View Hotel, Davao City. The meeting gathered key stakeholders across the Davao Region to discuss priority research and innovation initiatives.

Representing USeP were faculty members, researchers, and innovation leaders whose research and innovation initiatives formed part of the official agenda. Knowledge and Technology Transfer Division (KTTD) Director Engr. Francis Louise C. Yap presented the USeP Innovation Grant proposals, which focused on cacao processing technology, startup ecosystem modernization through the USeP-AGILab TBI, and AI-assisted startup evaluation frameworks.

Also presented were the studies of Dr. Leah O. Pelias, Study Leader of “Integrating Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs) using GAD Scorecard: A Gender-Inclusive Knowledge Management System”; Dr. Aristeo C. Salapa, Project Leader of “Development of a Fiscal Governance Model among Local Government Units (LGUs) in Davao Region”; Dr. Mary Ann C. Cacananta, Project Leader of “Disaster Resiliency Framework Among Women in Davao City”; and Mr. Eric P. Ricablanca, Study Leader of “An Assessment of Knowledge Management Systems of Ancestral Domain Management Office Data in Obu-Manuvu Governance Center.”

USeP’s participation highlights the University’s continued commitment to advancing responsive, community-centered, and impact-driven research initiatives that contribute to regional development and innovation.

[𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗔𝗖𝗬 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲] Protecting personal data is a shared responsibility.

This Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) 2026, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) joins the National Privacy Commission in promoting greater awareness and collective action toward data privacy and security, in line with Proclamation No. 527, s. 2018 and Republic Act No. 10173, or the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

Guided by this year’s theme, “ANAMNESIS: Looking Back and Moving Forward. Bayanihan for Data Safety,” the University highlights its continuing commitment to responsible data governance through established data privacy protocols, secure management of academic and administrative records, and sustained capacity-building initiatives led by its University Data Protection Office (UDPO) under the Office of Legal Affairs. These institutional practices reflect USeP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen compliance, transparency, and accountability in the handling of personal information across its systems and services.

We support this initiative in advancing greater awareness of data privacy rights and promoting a culture of responsible data protection across organizations and communities in the Philippines.

[𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬] The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) community extends its warmest greetings and well wishes to our Muslim brothers and sisters as we celebrate Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, on 27 May 2026, pursuant to Proclamation No. 1264, s. 2026 declaring its nationwide observance.

Eid al-Adha is one of the two major feasts of Islam and is observed in the Philippines as a regular holiday pursuant to Republic Act No. 9849, which provides that the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah of the Islamic calendar shall be a national holiday, with a movable date.

As a state university committed to nation-building, USeP recognizes that respect for faith, culture, and diversity is central to building a just and inclusive society. Eid al-Adha reminds the community of the enduring values of sacrifice, compassion, and service to others.

May this occasion also serve as a call for reflection and action, where we reaffirm our commitment to education as a force for social good, and to shaping graduates who are not only skilled professionals but also conscientious citizens working for the common good.

Let us continue to build a university community grounded in respect, unity, and shared purpose, where differences in faith and tradition become a source of strength in advancing meaningful nation-building.

As students and educators gather on Obrero campus, representatives from U.S. colleges and universities engage participants in meaningful discussions on undergraduate and graduate pathways, making international education more accessible to aspiring scholars.

The University of Southeastern Philippines expresses its sincere gratitude to Hon. Lorna Regina B. Legarda for her dedicated service as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical and Vocational Education (CHTVE) and for her meaningful contributions as a Member of the USeP Governing Board. The University likewise extends its appreciation to Commissioner Rachel Anne S. Herrera of the Climate Change Commission and Representative of Hon. Lorna Regina B. Legarda to the USeP Board, for her valuable support, active participation, and contributions to the University’s governance initiatives and development efforts.

Through their support for accessible and transformative education, they helped advance initiatives that strengthened higher education, research, innovation, and community development.

As the University opens another chapter of collaboration and service, the USeP community warmly welcomes Emmanuel Joel Jose Villanueva as the incoming Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education and as the newest member of the USeP Governing Board.
