โThe true measure of a life is found in the goodness it leaves behind.โ
Today, July 28, we remember the birth of Ma'am Victoria Cruz Ilagan Alterado, a remarkable woman whose life was filled with kindness, generosity, and an unwavering concern for others.
Ma'am Victoria believed that every person deserved to be treated with respect, regardless of who they were or where they came from. She welcomed people with an open heart, offered help without expecting anything in return, and lived with humility even while carrying great responsibility. She never sought recognition for the good she did. Instead, she found fulfillment in seeing others grow, succeed, and become better versions of themselves.
As the former Vice Chairperson of the Alterado Group of Companies, she supported a vision that reached far beyond business. She believed in building communities where people were given opportunities, encouraged to pursue their dreams, and reminded that compassion should always go hand in hand with excellence.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a caring grandmother, but her kindness was never confined to her own family. Many who had the privilege of knowing her remember not only her generosity but also the warmth she shared so naturally. She had a way of making people feel welcome, heard, and valued. These are the qualities that continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
As we commemorate her birth, we give thanks for a life that continues to influence our community through the values she lived every day, kindness, integrity, humility, and genuine service to others. May her example remind us that the greatest impact we can leave is found not only in what we accomplish, but also in how we choose to treat the people around us.
