The 2026 Student Research Colloquium officially commenced at Surigao del Norte State University โ Del Carmen Campus, gathering student researchers, educators, and innovators in a meaningful celebration of research and academic excellence. Anchored on the theme, โSustainable Siargao: Harnessing Student Research for Environmental, Educational, and Technological Innovation,โ the event highlights the vital role of student-led research in shaping a more sustainable and progressive future for the community.
The program was spearheaded by Mr. Elwin S. Argana, Campus Head for Research, in partnership with the University Student Council led by Ms. Lara Jelin C. Adding inspiration to the opening program was the insightful keynote address delivered by Engr. Mildred Eileen L. Ronsable, Science Research Specialist from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), with her empowering topic, โResearch as a Tool for Change: How Student Science Can Shape a Sustainable Future.โ Her discussion emphasized the importance of research-driven innovation in addressing societal and environmental challenges. The keynote session was then followed by an engaging open forum, where participants were given the opportunity to exchange ideas, raise questions, and deepen their understanding of the role of science and research in nation-building.
The event also proudly recognizes the hardworking student-researchers who serve as the heart of this colloquium. Their dedication, creativity, and commitment to innovation will be showcased through the parallel paper presentations following the opening program, where diverse studies and groundbreaking ideas aimed at environmental, educational, and technological advancement will take center stage.
