The Abra State Institute of Science and Technology formally requested and participated in a Refresher Training on Banana Tissue Culture Production conducted at the Quirino State University – Banana Resources Research and Development Center (QSU-BRRDC).

The training was designed to further enhance the technical knowledge and practical skills of participants in tissue culture methodologies, with emphasis on aseptic techniques, culture media preparation, subculturing, and plantlet acclimatization. These competencies are essential in ensuring the production of high-quality, true-to-type, and disease-free banana planting materials.

Through a combination of lectures, hands-on laboratory activities, and knowledge exchange, participants were able to revisit fundamental principles and adopt improved practices aligned with current standards in tissue culture production.

This initiative underscores the strong collaboration between the institutions in advancing agricultural research, capacity building, and technology transfer. It also reflects a shared commitment to supporting farmers and stakeholders through sustainable and science-based banana production systems.

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭-𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝

A new book titled “A Practical Guide for Cloning Forest and Fruit-Bearing Trees (New Edition)” has been published; it offers a practical reference for researchers, foresters, and plant propagation practitioners involved in tree production and reforestation efforts.

The book presents a step-by-step guide to tree propagation, starting with profiles of selected forest and fruit-bearing species. It discusses how to set up and manage nursery facilities, followed by proper care and maintenance of seedlings to ensure healthy growth and survival. It also includes detailed but practical methods on vegetative propagation using stem cuttings, aimed at helping users produce quality planting materials for both native and fruit-bearing trees.

The publication is a major output of the DOST-GIA funded project titled “Development of Clonal Propagation Protocol for Native and Fruit-Bearing Trees of Quirino and Adjacent Provinces,” proposed by Dr. Elizabeth T. Carig. The project was implemented under the leadership of For. Edgar V. Benabise, in partnership with the Plant Propagation Research and Development Center headed by then For. Joel G. Carig, with strong support from University President Dr. Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., local partners, and collaborating agencies.

Published by an NDBD-accredited publisher, the book also underwent expert review and critiquing prior to release to ensure quality and reliability.
The authors include Dr. Elizabeth Carig, For. Edgar Benabise, For. Joel Carig, Jonalyn Quinan, and Irene Dimmangna.

The publication is expected to support ongoing efforts in tree propagation, reforestation, and the promotion of sustainable forestry practices in local communities.

Narito ang opisyal na schedule at venue ng payout para sa “𝐈 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬: 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐲𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦” para sa Second Semester ng S.Y. 2025–2026, katuwang ang DSWD–SWAD Quirino Field Office sa pagsusulong ng mas matatag na suporta para sa edukasyon ng mga Kabataang Quirinian.

Libo-libong mag-aaral mula sa iba’t ibang kolehiyo at unibersidad ang inaasahang makatatanggap ng educational assistance sa mga itinakdang payout venues. Hinihikayat ang lahat ng benepisyaryo na alamin ang kani-kanilang iskedyul at venue, at tiyaking nakahanda at kumpleto ang lahat ng kinakailangang requirements upang maging maayos at mabilis ang proseso ng payout.
