๐๐ข๐๐๐ฎ๐ง, ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐จ - Quirino State University (QSU) has implemented a mandatory face mask policy across all its campuses following a surge in reported Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) cases, totaling seventy-seven (77) as of October 16, 2025.
The new directive, issued by University President Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., PhD, under Memorandum Order No. 39 dated today, October 22, aims to heighten health and safety measures and prevent further transmission within the academic community.
Effective immediately, all QSU students, faculty, and staff are required to wear face masks in indoor and crowded areas such as classrooms, laboratories, offices, libraries, canteens, gyms, conference rooms, and other common areas including hallways and covered walkways. The directive extends to all university facilities where people gather or frequent.
The memorandum also reminds the community to strictly observe health protocols, including regular handwashing or the use of alcohol-based sanitizers, avoiding close contact with individuals exhibiting flu-like symptoms, seeking immediate medical consultation for symptoms like fever and sore throat, and practicing voluntary home isolation for symptomatic individuals until recovery and clearance by health authorities.
Campus Health Units have been instructed to continue monitoring and reporting new ILI cases to university management. Compliance with the mandatory mask-wearing policy is required until further notice, pending further evaluation by the relevant authorities.
