The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office II has officially approved the issuance of the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) for the Master of Science in Agriculture (MSA), major in Crop Science, under the University’s Graduate School program at the Diffun Campus. The approval was formalized through CHED En Banc Resolution No. RO41-177-2026 and will take effect in Academic Year 2026 - 2027.

Earning CHED compliance validates the University’s efforts to providing high quality graduate education, boosting its credibility on a national scale. More importantly, this program serves the community by cultivating a workforce of agricultural experts dedicated to solving local challenges in sustainable production and food stability.

The program also functions as a hub for scientific discovery. Through targeted research in crop science, participants will explore new methods to improve yields, delivering tangible benefits and technical expertise to the region’s agricultural industry.

The University is pleased to announce the formal designation of Dr. Romiro G. Bautista as the new Vice President for Academics, Research, and Extension (VP-ARE). The designation was formalized via Special Order No. 04-13-(01), Series of 2026, issued by Dr. Alfonso R. Simon, OIC-President, following the approval of the Board of Regents under QSU Board Resolution No. 50-548, Series of 2026.

Dr. Bautista, a Professor VI and the International Relations Officer of the University, will hold this pivotal leadership position until the end of the next school year.

The Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) for Agriculture of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) held an inspection and monitoring activity for the University's Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) Program of Diffun Campus today, March 11. The event aimed to evaluate the program’s compliance with Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 23, Series of 2021.

The proceedings opened with remarks from Dr. Rosalyn L. Delizo, University Director for Instruction, followed by a message of greetings from Dr. Florigold V. Saldaen, Vice President for Administration and Finance. The PRC inspection team was led by Hon. Lilia A. Portales and Hon. Eric P. Palacpac, members of the PRB for Agriculture, joined by Mr. Jayson Tamayao and Mr. Joemar P. Labang, representatives of PRC Region 02.

Following the preliminaries, Dr. Rommel G. Peralta, BSA Chairperson, presented the program's profile, facilities, equipment, and resources. He highlighted the program’s prestigious Level III accreditation granted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP), as proof of providing quality education.

The event then proceeded with interviews, documentary assessments, and evaluation of instructional materials in the following core areas: Crop Science, Soil Science, Animal Science, Crop Protection, Agricultural Extension and Communication, and Agricultural Economics and Marketing. The team also conducted an onsite inspection of the program’s facilities and equipment.

In the afternoon exit conference, Hon. Eric P. Palacpac commended the upward trend of the University’s licensure examination performance for the past three years. While praising the current state of the laboratories and facilities, he provided strategic recommendations to further advance the program. In response, the faculty and academic leaders gave their commitment to address the areas of improvement noted during the evaluation.

Dr. Edgar V. Benabise, Dean of the College of Agriculture, Forestry, & Engineering (CAFE), closed the event with a message extending his heartfelt gratitude to the evaluators, noting that their constructive remarks will be used to guide the University’s continuous quality improvement initiatives. He emphasized that the inspectors’ findings will serve as a roadmap for excellence, ensuring that the BSA program remains competitive and responsive to the evolving needs of the agricultural sector.

Tabuk, Kalinga — February 21, 2026. Twenty-one students and two faculty members from the Agriculture Department passed the Agroenterprise NC III assessment at the Northern Luzon Training and Assessment Center Dagupan West, Tabuk.
The achievement highlights the department’s commitment to equipping future agricultural professionals with nationally recognized competencies. Faculty participation further underscores the program’s dedication to continuous professional development and excellence in agriculture.
This milestone strengthens the department’s role in advancing agricultural skills and fostering community growth through quality training and assessment.
