On March 27, 2026, the Biology students continued their eco-adventure at the ๐๐ฟ. ๐๐น๐ณ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐ต๐ถ๐ฒ๐น๐ฑ๐ ๐๐ฆ๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป (๐๐ฟ๐๐ ๐ฆ) in Lian, Batangas, embracing another day of learning and exploration.
The second day began early, as students woke up at dawn in preparation for a hike up ๐ ๐. ๐ง๐ถ๐ธ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ด, a renowned ecological site within the De La Salle University (DLSU) network. The trek offered a deeper level of immersion into the terrestrial environment, challenging students physically while rewarding them with breathtaking views, fresh air, and encounters with diverse flora and fauna. Guided by faculty members and field experts, students gained valuable insights into conservation practices and the importance of sustainable interaction with nature.
In this new setting, the same groups of students from Systematics, Ecology, and Evolutionary Biology applied their respective fieldwork techniquesโthis time focusing on terrestrial ecosystems. Systematics students conducted photodocumentation and species identification of land organisms, Ecology students implemented quadrat and line transect methods to study species distribution, and Evolutionary Biology students performed morphometric analyses on collected specimens, ensuring all were handled responsibly and returned to their habitats as they found them.
Before concluding their fieldwork, students were given free time prior to brunch to relax and immerse themselves in the coastal environment. Under supervision, they enjoyed swimming along the shore, taking in the natural surroundings one last time. This was followed by packing up their equipment and belongings in preparation for departure.
The Biology studentsโ Eco Tour 2026 at BrAMS not only broadened their scientific horizons but also strengthened their commitment to environmental stewardship. As they departed from the site, they carried with them not just research data and field notes, but also a renewed sense of wonder for the natural world and a deeper responsibility to help preserve it.
Biophilia, the innate connection of mankind with nature, was rekindled through their shared experiences over those two days.
