Pagbati sa mga nagsipagtapos na miyembro ng UP GeogSoc ngayong taong 2026! 🎓🌻

Ang oras na inyong inilaan para sa organisasyon ay hindi lamang sumasalamin sa inyong paninindigan at pagsisikap, kundi pati ang inyong pagtugon sa panawagan ng kahusayan, karangalan, at paglilingkod sa lipunan bilang mga Iskolar ng Bayan. Sa panahong bahagi kayo ng GeogSoc, magkasama nating binaybay ang daan tungo sa pagsulong ng disiplina ng Geografia.

Patuloy na magsisilbing gabay ang mga iniwan ninyong halimbawa sa amin sa pagpapatuloy ng mga layunin ng ating organisasyon. Sa pagtahak ninyo sa panibagong landas ng buhay, palagi ninyong dalhin ang mga aral, pagpapahalaga, at diwa ng paglilingkod na inyong naipamalas sa loob ng unibersidad.

HISTORY MADE ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE! 📣🌏

We are incredibly proud to announce that our Philippine delegates to the 2nd Open International Geography Olympiad (openGeo 2026) have officially brought home FOUR SILVER MEDALS!

Competing online from June 19-22, our brilliant delegates stood tall against more than 100 participants from 24 countries around the world. The Open International Geography Olympiad (openGeo) was organized by the Faculty of Geography at Lomonosov Moscow State University.

We would like to congratulate our outstanding delegates and their dedicated coaches:

We have always been deeply dedicated to championing diverse identities in geography. 🏳️‍🌈 As we celebrate Pride Month, the third and final installment of GeogWorks for the academic year 2025-2026 features another one of our inspiring and empowered alumni, Mx. Mikko Tamura. 💟

He works as a GIS Consultant and also serves as a Regional Community Manager at the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team and Open Mapping Hub for the Asia Pacific. Being the founder of Map Beks, Mx. Tamura used his platform to support the LGBTQ+ Community through mapping initiatives. 💌

💬 "Geography trained me to always ask: Where are we? Who is missing? And why does that matter? But honey, geography is also my runway. When I came out, I realized how invisible safe spaces could feel, and that inspired me to put LGBTQ+ safe spaces and HIV support facilities on the map for everyone to see. Suddenly, communities that had felt erased could literally point to a place and say, “I belong here—and I’m fabulous.” Every time I map with communities, I bring that energy: we take up space, we are visible, and we speak our truth—RuPaul style. Geography isn’t just maps and coordinates; it’s stories, identities, and power. And nothing slays me more than seeing safe spaces appear on the map—because being seen is the fiercest act of all.”

This feature ultimately underscores that space is never neutral - geography serves as a powerful avenue where gender expression and identity are shaped, contested, and reclaimed. 🌈
